The difference between ct and color Doppler ultrasound

The difference between ct and color Doppler ultrasound

CT and color ultrasound are both common examination methods in daily life. In the eyes of most people, CT and color ultrasound are often considered to be the same examination method. In fact, there are differences between CT and color ultrasound. CT and color ultrasound are different examination methods and have different functions. However, compared with CT and color ultrasound, the preparation rate of color ultrasound is usually higher. The following is a detailed introduction to the difference between CT and color ultrasound.

The difference between CT and color Doppler ultrasound

These are two different types of imaging tests. They have something in common. Both are used to obtain medical imaging information on organ tissue structure. CT is actually called a computer tomography X-ray machine. In the past, X-rays could only reflect the image of a certain surface. CT can basically be understood as scanning the human body around to obtain many X-rays at different levels. Through computer-assisted imaging, the doctor can select the image of the position he wants to see. Based on these characteristics, CT has excellent performance in three-dimensional structures such as the brain and bones. The only ultrasound that can be compared with CT at present is Doppler ultrasound, commonly known as color ultrasound. The biggest advantage of ultrasound compared to CT is its safety, such as imaging examinations during pregnancy. Because ultrasound uses the Doppler principle, it can image blood flow information. It also has wide application in cardiac examination. The technical cost is much cheaper than CT. In addition, ultrasound has limitations in its application because it is an ultrasound echo reflection, so it has a good ability to express solid organs, such as the liver, gallbladder, spleen, and kidneys. It is difficult for this to work on space-type (I really don't know how to explain this) organs, such as the stomach and lungs. To put it simply, you can choose the appropriate examination method based on what disease you have. Of course, some diseases require multiple tests.

The different imaging principles result in the two devices being good at examining different parts of the body. It depends on what you need to check. However, imaging examinations are ultimately just guesswork. The absence of CT scan does not mean that there are no other conditions. Pathology is the gold standard. CT has radiation, which is mainly through X-rays, while color ultrasound has no radiation, which is mainly through ultrasound imaging. Which one is better depends on the purpose. CT is generally very precise and can detect small lesions. Compared with color ultrasound, the imaging quality is simply rubbish.

Difference between abdominal color Doppler ultrasound and abdominal CT

Abdominal color ultrasound is different from abdominal CT. Abdominal color ultrasound can check organs such as the liver, gallbladder, spleen and pancreas, while CT scans layer by layer, which can be clearer and more comprehensive. If color Doppler ultrasound cannot confirm the diagnosis, abdominal CT can be considered. The disadvantage of CT is its low spatial resolution, but its advantage is its high density resolution. Therefore, it has certain advantages in the diagnosis of organic diseases, especially in detecting and making a qualitative diagnosis of organic space-occupying lesions with large density differences.

Color Doppler examination: refers to "color Doppler diagnosis". It uses modern technology to convert Doppler signals into color signals and superimpose them with two-dimensional black and white sonograms to achieve color blood flow imaging, making it possible to observe and evaluate the intravascular space and blood flow status in vitro. It can be seen that color ultrasound is mainly used for heart disease examination and blood flow detection of major blood vessels inside and outside various organs of the human body.

What are the advantages of color Doppler ultrasound?

1. It can quickly and intuitively display the two-dimensional plane distribution state of blood flow.

2. It can show the direction of blood flow.

3. It helps to distinguish arteries and veins.

4. Color Doppler ultrasound is helpful in identifying vascular and non-vascular lesions.

5. It helps to understand the nature of blood flow.

6. It is convenient to understand the phase and speed of blood flow.

7. Can reliably detect shunts and reflux.

8. It can quantitatively analyze the origin, width, length and area of the blood flow beam.

9. Color ultrasound has higher resolution than B-ultrasound, more functions, and a more detailed and wider examination range and content.
