The difference between laver and seaweed

Nori can be used to make nori soup. It has high nutritional value and can effectively supplement iodine in the human body. It is a kind of marine plant. However, many people often confuse the difference between seaweed and nori. These two foods are very similar in color and appearance, but they taste very different. So, what is the specific difference between laver and nori?

Nori: After being roasted, the seaweed becomes crispy and tender and melts in the mouth. Especially after being seasoned and adding oil, salt and other seasonings, it becomes a particularly delicious "nori". Nori concentrates various B vitamins in seaweed, especially riboflavin and niacin, as well as a lot of vitamin A and vitamin E, and a small amount of vitamin C. Seaweed contains about 15% minerals, including potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, etc., which are necessary to maintain normal physiological functions. It is especially rich in selenium and iodine. These minerals can help the human body maintain the acid-base balance, are beneficial to the growth and development of children, and are also helpful for the elderly to delay aging.

All nori is seaweed; but not all seaweed is nori. Rhodophyta, Rhodophyceae. The algae are purple or red, and are composed of a single or double layer of cells forming a thin film, and can be leaf-shaped, heart-shaped, ribbon-shaped, etc. The rhizoid-like holdfasts at the lower part of the porphyra are attached to the rock. It can reach 20-30 cm in height. The sexes are separated and the reproduction process is relatively complicated. In 1955, Chinese scientists first figured out the life history of Porphyra, which consists of three stages: Porphyra, filamentous body and small Porphyra.

The main components of seaweed are about 50% carbohydrates, about 30% crude protein, rich in vitamins A, B, C, and iodine, phosphorus, calcium, etc. It is a common food in my country and is distributed along the coast of my country, mainly along the coast of Jiangsu. There are two types of nori sold on the market. One is roasted nori (roasted laver) used for making rice rolls and sushi dishes, and the other is called "instant seasoned nori". Their raw materials are both the striped laver of laver.
