How to prevent benign gastric tumors

Gastric tumor is a common tumor disease, but benign gastric tumor is rare. So, how can we prevent benign gastric tumor? Below we will introduce it in detail.

Benign gastric tumors account for about 3% of gastric tumors. One type is adenoma or polypoid adenoma originating from the epithelial tissue of the gastric wall mucosa, and the other type is leiomyoma, fibroma, neurofibroma, lipoma, hemangioma, etc. originating from the mesenchymal tissue of the gastric wall. Symptoms vary, including discomfort and pain in the gastric area, similar to symptoms of gastritis or ulcer disease, sometimes chronic small-scale bleeding, and occasionally large-scale bleeding. When the tumor is located near the cardia or pylorus, obstructive symptoms may occur.

When the tumor is not large, there are generally no positive signs. Sometimes, a lobulated mass can be palpated in the abdomen for a subserous leiomyoma. Since it is sometimes difficult to completely rule out the possibility of malignancy in benign gastric tumors, even if they are benign, they may become malignant or have complications such as obstruction and bleeding in the future, so surgical treatment should also be actively performed. Depending on the specific situation of the tumor, partial gastrectomy or total gastrectomy can be selected.

1. How to prevent benign gastric tumors? Fasting from food and water and continuous gastrointestinal decompression for 2 to 3 days. The gastric tube can be removed after gastrointestinal motility is restored.

2. Maintain water, electrolyte, and acid-base balance.

3. If the lesion area is large, it is generally forbidden to eat coarse, rough, coarse fiber and irritating foods. Liquid food is preferred. It is best to give easily digestible and nutritious food, and the intake should not be too full.

4. Antibiotics should be applied for one week after surgery.

5. After endoscopic resection of benign tumors, gastroscopy should be performed once a year. If there are multiple polyps, gastroscopy should be performed every 6 months.

Through the above introduction, I believe everyone has understood how to prevent benign gastric tumors. I would like to remind everyone to take preventive measures in life to avoid the occurrence of gastric tumors.
