How is lymphoma contracted and what is the cause

The occurrence of lymphoma is related to multiple factors such as genetics, environmental factors, immune system abnormalities and infections, which include both intrinsic genetic defects and harmful exposure to the outside world.

Genetic factors play a role in the occurrence of lymphoma. Some lymphoma patients may carry disease-related gene mutations or family histories, especially if the first-generation relatives have lymphoma, the risk is relatively higher. Environmental factors also play an important role. For example, long-term exposure to chemical toxins (such as pesticides and solvents), radioactive radiation or viral infections (such as Epstein-Barr virus, HIV, etc.) may induce abnormal proliferation of lymphoid tissue. Immune system imbalance is another key factor, especially in people with autoimmune diseases or receiving long-term immunosuppressive treatment (such as patients after organ transplantation), the incidence of lymphoma is significantly increased. Other physiological factors include age increase and gender differences. Some studies have shown that middle-aged and elderly people and men account for a higher proportion of certain types of lymphoma. At the pathological level, long-term chronic inflammation such as Helicobacter pylori infection may also cause gastric-related mucosal lymphoid tissue lymphoma.

To prevent lymphoma, we should start with improving lifestyle and enhancing immunity. For example, we should avoid contact with harmful chemicals, eat a healthy diet, and eat more fruits, vegetables, and foods rich in antioxidants, such as carrots and broccoli; maintaining a stable work and rest schedule and exercising regularly can also reduce the risk of disease. People at high risk of infection (such as those with weakened immune function) can be vaccinated to prevent viral infection. Regular physical examinations, especially those with a clear family history, can detect lesions or high-risk signals early, thereby improving the effectiveness of treatment. If abnormalities such as swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, or sudden weight loss are found, you should see a doctor as soon as possible to confirm the diagnosis and develop a treatment plan.
