Many patients develop erythema or small papules on the glans of the penis and suspect that they have a sexually transmitted disease. I was so scared that I went to see a doctor and found out that it was balanitis (inflammation of the penis head). In fact, balanitis is a common disease. It's not a tumor, nor is it a STD. So, why do the glans glans grow small grains of flesh? Let me explain it to you now. Balanitis is divided into balanitis and foreskin inflammation. Since it often occurs at the same time, it is called balanitis. This inflammation can be infectious or non-infectious, and infectious balanitis is more common clinically. Infectious ones are often caused by unclean sexual intercourse, infection with Candida albicans, Trichomonas, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Gonorrhea or other bacteria; non-infectious factors are mostly due to excessive foreskin and insufficient cleaning, and the unclean substances between the foreskin and the glans, namely smegma, will accumulate and stimulate local foreskin and mucosa inflammation. The clinical manifestations are white, skin-colored or light red papules that do not fuse with each other and are arranged in one or several rows along the coronal sulcus at the posterior edge of the glans. Commonly known as "glans pearl stain". Medically, it is named pearly penile papules. Medical experts have confirmed through pathological sections that its structure is normal connective tissue hyperplasia. Pearly penile papules do not require treatment with Western medicine. Electrolysis or laser treatment may be used if necessary. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment: 1. Internal treatment: clearing away heat and dampness, desensitizing and relieving itching. Modifications to the anti-inflammatory and diuretic formula: 10 grams of gentian, 15 grams of Dictamni cortex, 30 grams of dried Rehmannia glutinosa, 6 grams of Akebia, and 10 grams of Lonicera japonica. Decoction in water. 2. External treatment: 10 grams each of Phellodendron chinense, wild chrysanthemum and licorice, decocted in water and soaked in water. Dilute and rinse with ready-made medicines such as Jieryin, Jieshenchun, and Shenzi Lotion. The common clinical balanitis includes the following types, and their symptoms are as follows: (1) Acute superficial balanitis initially causes local redness, redness and swelling of the penis skin, and a burning and itching sensation in the glans penis. When the foreskin is turned back, one can see that the inner surface of the foreskin and the glans are congested and eroded, with exudate and even bleeding. After secondary infection, small ulcers may be seen with foul-smelling milky white purulent secretions. If it rubs against underwear, it will be painful and patients often have difficulty in moving. There may be swelling and pain in the inguinal lymph nodes. (2) Annular ulcerating balanitis: Red spots can be seen on the glans and foreskin. They gradually expand and become ring-shaped, and may form superficial ulcers. (3) Candida albicans balanitis: Red spots can be seen on the foreskin and glans, with a smooth surface and small blisters. The edges of the red spots are clear, and there are erosions and exudation during acute attacks. (4) Trichomonas balanitis causes papules and erythema on the glans penis, which gradually expand and have clear edges. Small needle-sized blisters can be seen on the erythema, and finally an erosive surface is formed. The basic principle of Western medicine treatment is anti-inflammatory and bactericidal. Generally, both internal and external treatments are used. Erythromycin and tetracycline are the first choice for the treatment of acute superficial balanitis and annular ulcerated balanitis, usually 0.5g per dose, 4 times a day. The first choice for the treatment of trichomoniasis balanitis is metronidazole, 0.2g each time, 3 times a day, for 10 consecutive days. Trichostatin or itraconazole is commonly used to treat balanitis caused by Candida albicans. Trichostatin 100,000 to 200,000 units, twice a day, and itraconazole 100 mg, twice a day, for 7 consecutive days. Prevention and maintenance are important. Develop good hygiene habits, pay attention to the cleanliness of the glans, avoid unclean sex, and restrain sex. Wear loose underwear and clothes, change underwear frequently, and also change and wash bed sheets and quilt covers frequently. Don't stay up late, pay attention to your work and rest schedule, strengthen physical exercise, and improve your physical fitness. |
