How to Self-Diagnose Skin Cancer

How to Self-Diagnose Skin Cancer

Skin cancer also shows certain characteristic symptoms in its early stages. Patients can determine whether they have skin cancer by examining themselves. Early detection of skin cancer is the key to achieving good treatment results. The early characteristics of skin cancer and self-examination methods are as follows:

Early signs of skin cancer

1. Skin ulcers that do not heal for a long time, come and go, or bleed slightly.

2. Any solar keratosis that presents with bleeding, ulceration, or asymmetric nodules.

3. When ulcers or nodules appear in the sinus tract, the skin or old scars that have been exposed to radiation in the past.

4. If red skin scars do not fade for a long time and show mild erosion, be alert to the possibility of carcinoma in situ.

Self-examination method

1. Start with your arms first. Face the mirror naked and check your palms, fingers, spaces between fingers, forearms and back arms. Then raise your arms, bend your elbows, and carefully check the inside and joints of your forearms.

2. Check the front of the body: abdomen, pubic area, legs, face, neck, and chest.

3. Check the side of the body: check the right half last. Raise your hands and check the left half first.

4. Stand with your back to the mirror and use a small mirror in your hand to look at the back of your neck, back, buttocks and arms. If it is inconvenient, ask one of your spouse or a good friend to help check.

5. Ask someone to use a comb to lift your hair so that you can check if there are any suspicious areas on your head skin. If you are a man and your hair is short, you can also slowly feel it yourself.

6. Sit down and check your feet, heels, toes and soles. Then hold a mirror against the inside of your legs and move it around to see if there are any signs of disease on the back of your legs.
