Why do both my elbows hurt?

Elbow pain is a very common phenomenon. People who are more likely to experience this are generally those who do heavy physical labor or women who often do housework. However, athletes may also experience elbow pain. If you want to relieve this pain, you must pay more attention to rest and try to do less heavy physical labor. You can perform local massage appropriately, which will relieve the pain.

What to do if your elbow hurts

1. Perform local massage. When your arm muscles are sore, you can press the sore area with your palm, rub it clockwise for about 15 minutes, and then rub it counterclockwise for another 15 minutes. Repeat 5-10 times a day, and the arm muscle soreness will be significantly relieved.

2. Apply plaster. When the arm muscle soreness is severe, you can buy a plaster that relaxes the muscles and promotes blood circulation and apply it to the painful area. Press the edges and corners when applying it, so that the effect will be better.

3. Apply hot compress with a hot towel. If you don't want to use a plaster, you can also use the simplest method - hot compress with a hot towel. For the painful area, apply hot compress with a towel soaked in hot water for about 10 minutes. When the towel cools down, soak it in hot water again and continue the hot compress. Until you feel the pain is significantly relieved.

4. Reduce physical activity. When your arm muscles are sore, try to avoid using your arms for heavy work, otherwise it will aggravate the soreness. For example, to lift a bucket of water, your arms need to use a lot of strength, which will make your already sore arms even more uncomfortable.

5. Be patient and take care of yourself. If you have arm pain, no matter what measures you take, it will not go away immediately. Even the mildest pain will take two or three days to recover. The more powerful ones last longer. Therefore, you need to be patient and recuperate. After a period of time, the arm muscle soreness will naturally improve.

Why does my elbow hurt?

1. It may be lateral epicondylitis. Commonly known as tennis elbow, it refers to inflammation and pain of the tendons on the outside of the elbow. Proper rest is particularly important during the acute phase (severe redness, swelling, and pain), but changing activity patterns is even more important. Finding out the cause of the injury and then making appropriate changes can help alleviate the condition. Studies have shown that tennis players who suffer from tennis elbow can reduce their symptoms by 90% by reducing their training intensity and exercising scientifically.

2. It may be caused by arthritis. Arthritis refers to joint lesions caused by inflammation, infection, trauma or other factors and is a rheumatic disease. Its main characteristics are joint swelling, heat, pain and functional changes in arthritic joints. Depending on the degree of disease progression, the treatment of osteoarthritis requires a detailed understanding of the patient's condition and symptomatic treatment.

3. Another disease that causes elbow pain may be rheumatoid arthritis. The affected joints are mostly large joints such as the knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows and wrists. The lesions are locally red, swollen, burning, and extremely painful. Some patients also have several joints affected at the same time. Atypical patients only have joint pain but no other inflammatory manifestations. Acute inflammation generally subsides in 2-4 weeks without leaving sequelae, but it often recurs.
