Be careful of drug effects. Many antibiotics, analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs, hormone drugs, contraceptives and vitamins may affect test results. For example, vitamin C will obviously interfere with blood sugar results, causing blood sugar test values ​​to be low. Therefore, it is best to have a blood test before taking the medicine. For those who take medication for a long time, they should consult their doctor before testing whether they need to stop taking the medication. "Fasting" is not just skipping breakfast, but it does not include "fasting water"

"Fasting" in medicine generally requires fasting within 12 to 14 hours before blood collection. For example, fasting (including not drinking alcohol or eating snacks) from 8 pm the night before blood collection until 8-10 am the next day when blood is drawn meets the requirements. In addition, fasting does not necessarily mean abstaining from water, and drinking a small amount of water generally does not have a significant impact on test results. You should maintain your normal eating habits the day before blood collection and avoid drinking alcohol; do not drink coffee or strong tea after dinner. After getting up the next morning, do not eat breakfast, drink little or no water, and calmly go to the hospital to have your blood drawn. Of course, tests like routine blood tests generally do not require fasting blood samples. If the doctor does not have special requirements, the test can be performed at any time. For laboratory tests such as blood lipids, high-fat diet should be avoided 3 days before blood drawing.

Many diseases can be preliminarily diagnosed through blood tests. For example, liver function can be checked to preliminarily determine whether one has hepatitis. Sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS can also be checked. Blood tests can also be used to determine whether one is pregnant or whether one is taking drugs. Generally, there is a slight pain when the needle is inserted and blood is drawn during a blood test.
