It turns out that you can prevent gas poisoning like this

In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standards, residents in many places have started using gas, but this has also led to frequent cases of gas poisoning. So how can we prevent gas poisoning in daily life? In fact, there are ten ways to prevent gas poisoning. One of them is to check whether the stove and pipe valves are closed after cooking dinner.

1. After cooking, be sure to check whether the stove and pipe valves are closed.

2. Check the hose regularly to see if it is firm and replace the aging hose in time. It is best to replace it once a year.

3. Do not sleep in a room with gas facilities, such as converting a kitchen into a bedroom during renovation.

4. When boiling water, someone should be on duty. Do not fill the pot too full to prevent the water from overflowing and extinguishing the fire.

5. When using an electronic stove, check whether the fire is on after hearing the ignition sound.

6. The purpose of gas facilities cannot be changed without permission. If the gas pipeline needs to be changed, an application must be submitted to the gas management office, and a dedicated person will be responsible for the installation and scientific pressure testing of the modified facilities.

7. When renting a house to outsiders, remind the tenant to follow standardized procedures.

8. When using a gas water heater, pay attention to ventilation and keep the air flowing. Do not install the gas water heater in the bathroom.

9. The stove must be compatible with the gas source. For example, if you use coal gas, you cannot install natural gas stoves.

10. Install a gas alarm, plug in the power supply and keep it in working condition at all times.

The main symptoms of gas poisoning

Gas poisoning is usually divided into three types, depending on the concentration of carbon monoxide in the inhaled air and the length of poisoning time.

1. Mild

The poisoning time is short, and the carboxyhemoglobin in the blood is 10% to 20%. The early symptoms of poisoning include headache, dizziness, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, weakness in the limbs, and even brief fainting. The patient is generally conscious and the symptoms disappear quickly after inhaling fresh air and leaving the poisoned environment, and generally no sequelae are left.

2. Moderate

If the poisoning lasts a little longer, carboxyhemoglobin in the blood will account for 30% to 40%. In addition to mild symptoms, other symptoms may include sweating, irritability, unsteady gait, pale skin, confusion, drowsiness, fatigue, collapse or coma. The skin and mucous membranes will appear the cherry red color unique to gas poisoning. If rescued in time, the patient can wake up quickly and recover completely within a few days, generally with no sequelae.

3. Severe

If the patient is discovered too late, has inhaled too much gas, or inhaled high concentrations of carbon monoxide in a short period of time, the blood carboxyhemoglobin concentration is often above 50%. The patient will be in a deep coma, all reflexes will disappear, he will suffer from incontinence, cold limbs, low blood pressure, rapid breathing, and will soon die. Generally, the longer the coma lasts, the worse the prognosis, and it often leaves sequelae such as dementia, memory and comprehension loss, and limb paralysis. Especially when poisoning occurs during sleep at night, the person is often not discovered until the next day, at which point he or she is usually unconscious, with clenched jaws, twitching body, incontinence, cherry-red face and lips, faster breathing and pulse, increased blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, rales in the lungs, and possibly an increase in body temperature. Extremely critically ill patients suffer from sustained deep coma, weak pulse, irregular breathing, low blood pressure, and may also have a high fever of 40°C. At this time, their lives are in danger and the mortality rate is high. Even if they are lucky enough to survive, they will be left with serious sequelae such as dementia, paralysis, and loss of ability to work and live.

Complications

It starts with dizziness, headache, tinnitus, blurred vision, weakness in the limbs and general discomfort. The symptoms gradually worsen to include nausea, vomiting, chest tightness, followed by drowsiness, coma, rapid breathing, low blood pressure, and even death.
