What is lipstick made of

Lipstick is the most common cosmetic for women. There are many types of lipsticks and a wide range of colors. There are many materials used to make lipstick, including some chemical raw materials, mineral oils, beeswax, etc. When buying lipstick, you must go to a regular shopping mall to buy it. Inferior lipstick can cause great harm to your health. It even has certain carcinogenicity.

What is lipstick made of?

Base: oil, wax, softener, so that lipstick can solidify and last longer

Wax: Palm wax and beeswax are the most commonly used. Palm wax is less likely to melt.

Oils: mineral oil, castor oil, lanolin, paraffin oil (petroleum jelly)

Softeners: Increase the ability of color to adhere to lips and also moisturize

Lip gloss contains more oil and less wax.

Colorant: Contains pigments or dyes. The pigments used in lipstick must be relatively fine particles so that they can adhere evenly to the lips.

Spices and seasonings can mask the taste of the above ingredients.

Chemists believe that the six basic ingredients of lipstick are beeswax, palm wax, candelilla wax, castor oil, lanolin, and ozokerite.

The ingredient ratio is: 65% sesame oil, 15% beeswax, 8-10% palm wax, 5% lanolin, and a little colorant and fragrance.

Some lipsticks with glittering effects also contain ingredients such as mica, iron oxide, and titanium dioxide. Some lipsticks with bright red or dark red effects may contain dried cochineal sacs that grow on cacti, as well as some preservatives.
