What should bone cancer patients pay attention to during chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is often used in the treatment of bone cancer. So what should patients pay attention to during chemotherapy?

The entire chemotherapy can be divided into three stages, namely before chemotherapy, during chemotherapy and after chemotherapy, and each stage should have different response plans.

First of all, there are things that need to be paid attention to before chemotherapy. Blood should be drawn under the guidance of a doctor to check blood count, liver function, kidney function, electrocardiogram, lung X-ray, etc., and changes in various functions of the patient's body should be strictly monitored; then there is weight monitoring, because the dosage of chemotherapy drugs is strictly calculated based on the patient's body surface area, so it can provide accurate weight; and another thing is to understand the adverse reactions that chemotherapy drugs may cause and the effects of chemotherapy treatment, in order to adjust the mentality and actively face the next treatment.

Patients should actively cooperate with the treatment during chemotherapy. Chemotherapy will have certain side effects on the body, mainly manifested in the hematopoietic system, such as changes in body temperature, ecchymosis or appearance of skin and mucous membranes, epistaxis and bleeding gums; at the same time, they will also face gastrointestinal reactions. When the symptoms are mild, there will be nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension and loss of appetite. In severe cases, there will be abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody stools, etc.; chemotherapy will also cause damage to kidney function, which can be reduced by drinking plenty of water, drinking fruit juice, rice and soup, etc. The daily urine volume should be guaranteed to be above 3000ml, the urine pH should be above 8, and attention should be paid to the urine color, whether there is turbidity and sediment, etc.; others should also pay attention to liver and heart function, as well as skin damage caused by chemotherapy.

After chemotherapy, patients should strengthen their nutrition, avoid crowded places, exercise appropriately to improve their body's immunity, and go to the hospital for relevant examinations on time as instructed by the doctor.
