Patients with hamartoma generally do not have obvious symptoms. Hamartoma is actually formed by abnormal development of the patient's normal tissue. The location of the tumor is also different, and it is commonly found on the surface of the lungs. The appearance of general hamartomas will not cause much harm to patients. A small number of patients will have more obvious and damaging symptoms, such as varying degrees of pain in the waist and abdomen, hematuria, abdominal lumps, etc. The treatment of hamartoma can be done through surgery after general anesthesia. For these types of tumors, tortuous resection is required. The vast majority of people with hamartomas have no symptoms. The main reasons for the symptoms are mostly related to the growth location, size, number, growth rate, and relationship between the renal hamartoma and surrounding organs. During the physical examination, it is often found that some patients may have the following symptoms due to the tumor itself, increased pressure in the tumor, infection, etc.: ① Discomfort or pain in the waist and abdomen: The reason is that the enlarged and expanded kidneys increase the tension of the renal capsule, stretch the renal pedicle, or cause compression of adjacent organs. In addition, the larger size of the renal hamartoma causes the kidney to become heavy, falling and pulling, which can also cause lower back pain. The pain is characterized by dull pain, fixed on one side or both sides, radiating to the lower part and lower back. If there is bleeding in the tumor or secondary infection, the pain will suddenly intensify. If the urinary tract is blocked by stones or blood clots after bleeding, renal colic may occur. ②Hematuria: It may manifest as microscopic hematuria or macroscopic hematuria. The attacks are cyclical. Low back pain often worsens during an attack and can be triggered or aggravated by strenuous exercise, trauma, or infection. ③ Abdominal mass: Sometimes it is the main reason for patients to seek medical treatment. 60% to 80% of patients can feel enlarged kidneys. Hamartoma refers to a tumor-like deformity caused by the incorrect combination and arrangement of normal tissues in an organ of the body during development. The term "hamartoma" was first coined by Albrecht in 1904. Pulmonary hamartomas discovered during health examinations are sometimes extremely difficult to differentiate from malignant tumors in the lungs due to the lack of dynamic observation. Pulmonary hamartomas that grow rapidly in a short period of time are also difficult to diagnose. Therefore, when clinical and X-ray examinations cannot rule out a malignant tumor, surgery should be performed as soon as possible. Even for benign hamartomas, early surgery can avoid complications such as pneumonia, atelectasis, bronchiectasis, etc. caused by tumor enlargement, which may aggravate or complicate the condition. The operation is performed under general anesthesia. After opening the chest, it can be seen that the tumor is located on the surface of the lung. It has a hard texture and an uneven surface, and the tumor can be felt sliding in the lung tissue. The tumor can be completely removed by cutting the lung tissue and separating it slightly. Except for endobronchial hamartoma or other possible malignant tumors, local resection or segmental resection is generally performed. |
