Is liver cancer contagious?

I believe that most people know that hepatitis B is contagious, so people generally need to be careful to protect themselves when they come into contact with hepatitis B patients. Then some people ask, is liver cancer contagious? Because liver cancer is formed by the initial hepatitis, which slowly transforms into cirrhosis, and then deteriorates to form liver cancer. This will cause some people to think that if hepatitis is contagious, liver cancer will naturally be contagious as well. But is this statement correct? Let me analyze them one by one.

First of all, for infection to occur, three pathways must be present: a source of infection, a route of transmission, and a susceptible population. However, cancer cells are not a source of infection. They can only spread within the host’s body and cannot infect humans other than the host. Therefore, the three pathways of infection are incomplete, and infection naturally cannot occur.

Secondly, let us think about whether there are isolation measures for cancer patients in hospitals. No, current medicine cannot prove that cancer is contagious, including liver cancer. In the late stage of liver cancer, cancer cells will metastasize to other organs and cause failure of the organs and liver function, leading to death, but during this period, it is not contagious.

Finally, because most patients discover they have liver cancer very late, in the late stages, and therefore miss the best time for treatment, it is best to go to the hospital regularly for a full-body check-up. Do not wait until you feel liver pain, loss of appetite, or even jaundice before going to the hospital. At this time, you have missed the best time for treatment and it is difficult to cure.

Note: Although liver cancer is not contagious, cancer is difficult to cure, especially liver cancer. Therefore, we must protect our liver, drink less alcohol, exercise more, eat less greasy and meaty foods, eat more fruits, vegetables and grains, have regular physical examinations, and have less contact with hepatitis B patients.
