What are the benefits of not breastfeeding for mothers?

Since ancient times, people have been vigorously advocating breastfeeding. The nutritional value of mother's breast milk is very high. For newborn babies, mother's milk is a natural nutrient and the best tonic in the world. Therefore, breastfeeding is good for babies. Not only that, breastfeeding also has many benefits for mothers, such as breast health, and the many other benefits listed below.

Benefits of not breastfeeding to mothers:

1. Repeated sucking of the baby releases oxytocin from the mother's pituitary gland. This hormone not only makes the breasts produce milk for the baby, but it also causes the uterus to contract. Contractions prevent postpartum hemorrhage and promote the return of the uterus to a non-pregnant phase.

2. The time it takes for mothers who breastfeed to resume menstruation is often delayed, and they often have no menstruation. This phenomenon is very beneficial for mothers to save iron and reduce the risk of iron deficiency anemia. It also often achieves natural contraception, maintains a certain birth spacing, ensures the best guarantee of survival for each baby, and restores the mother's physical strength between two pregnancies.

3. Help mothers recover and lose weight after childbirth. Milk production is an active metabolic process with an average energy expenditure of 200-500 kcal/day. Therefore, breastfeeding mothers have more advantages in consuming fat during pregnancy.

4. To reduce blood glucose levels in mothers with gestational diabetes, as the maximum weight loss caused by breastfeeding may reduce the risk of subsequent diabetes.

5. Breastfeeding can reduce the risk of at least three serious diseases: female reproductive system cancers such as ovarian cancer, breast cancer and uterine cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis.

6. Psychological benefits. Breastfeeding provides a unique interaction between mother and baby, promoting bonding between mother and child. When a baby sucks the breast, the mother produces a special kind of prolactin, which not only promotes milk secretion, but also makes the mother particularly calm. Breastfeeding can help mothers reduce their risk of postpartum depression.

American scientists once conducted a survey of 5,000 women and found that none of the women who breastfed their children for 9 to 12 months developed breast cancer. Dr. Berkeley of the United States once wrote in his book "Nutrition Against Cancer": If a baby is only fed milk instead of breast milk, it will not only increase the possibility of the child getting cancer when he grows up, but the mother herself will also be more susceptible to cancer. Therefore, he advises many young mothers to feed their babies with their own milk, which is not only beneficial to the healthy growth of the children, but also an ideal way for mothers to avoid breast cancer.
