Health care has always been our goal. Therefore, many children now buy some ginseng as gifts for their elders during the New Year and other festivals for the health of their elders. The fresher the ginseng, the more expensive it will be. Expensive fresh ginseng must be carefully preserved after it is bought home. If it is not preserved properly and is often placed in an environment that is too hot or too humid, it may become moldy. The preservation and drying of fresh ginseng require skills, so you must pay special attention to it. What are the types of ginseng? Generally, we divide ginseng into two types: artificially cultivated garden ginseng and wild mountain ginseng. If classified according to different processing methods, it can be divided into four types, namely red ginseng, white ginseng, sugared ginseng and sun-dried ginseng; if classified according to different places of origin, it can be divided into Chinese and North Korean ginseng. Red ginseng: This production method is to steam fresh ginseng at high temperature for about two hours, dry it after it is fully cooked, and finally remove the whiskers and press it into different shapes. The ginseng made by this method is warm in nature and has a very good nourishing effect, especially it has a very good effect of replenishing qi and warming the body, and is particularly suitable for emergency treatment to restore yang. White ginseng: The materials for this preparation method are mostly Korean ginseng of relatively low quality, which can be boiled in boiling water for a while and then dried. Sugared ginseng: Poke holes in fresh ginseng with a needle, soak it in sugar water, and finally dry it. The ginseng made in this way is very mild, so the effect seems to be relatively poor. It is more suitable for nourishing the body in daily life and has certain effects on health care of the spleen and lungs. Sun-dried ginseng: Generally, artificially cultivated ginseng is selected for drying. It is mild in nature and has good effects of replenishing qi and promoting salivation. After taking it, it can nourish the body and improve the body's resistance and immunity. How should ginseng be stored? You must be very careful when preserving ginseng. If you are not careful, its medicinal efficacy and life will be greatly reduced. Let's learn together, so as to avoid wasting ginseng due to improper storage methods. Desiccant storage: Find a highly sealed container, preferably one with low light transmittance, and then put a desiccant at the bottom of the container, such as charcoal, silica gel, etc. The purpose is to keep the container where the ginseng is stored dry. Remember to wrap the ginseng with paper before putting it into the container and then seal it with a lid. This will prevent the ginseng from being infested by insects and mold. Preservation of glutinous rice and white sugar: Also find a sealed container, sprinkle about 3 cm thick white sugar on the bottom of the container, then fry the glutinous rice, wrap the ginseng with the fried glutinous rice, and then put it into the container with white sugar at the bottom, cover and seal! This method is very suitable for long-term preservation of ginseng at home. Low temperature storage: If the ginseng is completely dry, wrap it directly in plastic without any air leakage, and then put it in the storage cabinet of the refrigerator. If the ginseng is not yet dry, put it in the freezer of the refrigerator first, and then put it in the storage cabinet after it is freeze-dried. Sunlight storage: For ginseng that has been infested with insects or mold, the insect bodies, eggs, and mold spots should be removed first, then washed with water, and then directly exposed to the sun until dry, and sealed with a plastic bag! Four ways to preserve fresh ginseng Storage in the refrigerator: This is a method widely used by ordinary households. Sprinkle a little water before storage, then wrap it in a plastic bag and place it in the refrigerator. At the same time, pierce a few small holes in the plastic bag and it can be preserved for two months. Moss preservation: This is a method of preserving ginseng in large quantities in a cool place. Place ginseng and moss in layers in a box or container, spray them with plenty of water, and they can be stored for a week. Preservation in sand: This is a way to preserve ginseng for a long time in autumn. Moisten the sand appropriately and bury the ginseng layer by layer in the clean sand. It can be preserved for more than 1 month. Storage in a paper box: Place the ginseng in a paper box made of horse manure paper and store it in a warehouse or basement where there is little climate change. This way, it can be preserved from autumn to winter. |
