Pityriasis versicolor is also more common in people who use corticosteroids because the epidermal cell replacement cycle in these people is prolonged, which is conducive to fungal growth. Is pityriasis versicolor contagious? -- Treatment of pityriasis versicolor:

(1) Apply 20% - 40% sodium thiosulfate solution externally, wait for it to dry, then repeat with 2% dilute hydrochloric acid solution, once a day, usually need to be continued for 4-6 weeks. If dilute hydrochloric acid is not available, rice vinegar can be used instead.

(2) For external use, 1% clotrimazole cream, econazole lotion, 1% miconazole lotion, etc.

(3) You can also use mild anti-tinea lotion, such as 1% salicylic acid spirit plus vinyl acid anti-tinea lotion for external application.

(4) It can be applied while applying the medicine externally. Take 100 grams of the Chinese medicine Cnidium monnieri, pack it in a gauze bag, add 2000-3000 ml of water, simmer for 30 minutes after boiling, pour the medicine liquid into the bathtub, and take a bath when the liquid temperature reaches 40℃ (not too hot to touch).

Pityriasis versicolor is sensitive to topical medications and has a good therapeutic effect. As long as treatment is persisted and personal hygiene is strengthened, it is not difficult to cure and generally there is no need to take antifungal drugs orally.

The key to preventing pityriasis versicolor is prevention. For example, if you sweat visibly due to work or exercise, you should shower and change clothes in time, and do not wear other people's clothes casually. Seek early diagnosis and treatment after becoming ill, and adhere to the doctor's orders until you are completely cured.
