Black spots on the whites of the eyes indicate roundworms

People's normal eyes are divided into two types. Some have black pupils and white pupils. These are two combinations and can be clearly seen from the appearance. However, some people will find black spots on the whites of their eyes, and they look a little erratic when looking at things. This is not due to roundworms. It may be that there is no problem with the eyes or that they have floaters.

The appearance of black shadows floating in front of your eyes is a common floater. Floaters can be divided into two types: physiological and pathological.

Physiological floaters: refers to those that do not affect vision and the doctor's examination also shows no obvious organic lesions. The patient feels that there are translucent strips or filamentous shadows floating in front of his eyes, which are more obvious when there is a white wall or clear sky as the background. The number of them is small and the symptoms are relatively constant.

This may be the result of residual tissue cells of individual embryos or a small number of physiological cells entering the vitreous body and affecting the sensitive retina; another reason is that the vitreous body undergoes mild liquefaction due to aging. As long as the patient relieves his mental burden and diverts his attention from the dark shadow, the symptoms will slowly disappear on their own without the need for treatment.

Pathological floaters: refers to those caused by eye or systemic diseases and found by doctors to have vitreous floaters and fundus lesions. The patient's vision is usually affected. This kind of black shadow often appears suddenly with eye disease. It is thicker than physiological floaters, sometimes more and sometimes less, and can swing with the direction of the head and eyeball rotation.

Common causes include eye inflammation, bleeding, trauma, degeneration, etc. In particular, myopic patients should pay attention when they feel that the symptoms of floaters suddenly worsen, as this may be a precursor to retinal detachment. They should go to the hospital for examination immediately and undergo preventive laser treatment if necessary to avoid retinal detachment and endangerment to vision.
