Should Yanhuning be used with salt water or sugar water?

Inotropin is a Chinese patent medicine. It is an injectable drug mainly extracted from Andrographis paniculata. When people have upper respiratory tract infections, hospitals usually prescribe Inotropin for patients to receive infusion treatment. However, the concentration of Inotropin is relatively high and requires other drugs to dilute it. However, some drugs will affect the efficacy of Inotropin. So, should Inotropin be diluted with saline or sugar water?

1. Upper respiratory tract infection: Is Yanhuning effective for saline or glucose?

Yanhuning should be diluted with 5% glucose injection or 5% glucose sodium chloride injection and then dripped. Inflammatorium is usually prepared with glucose, while viraviril can be prepared with either saline or glucose water. Indomethacin is compatible with both saline and glucose, has no conflicts or side effects with drugs, and will not affect the efficacy of the drugs.

2. Usage and Dosage

Before use, add an appropriate amount of sterile water for injection to dissolve.

Intramuscular injection, 40-80 mg at a time, 1-2 times a day.

For intravenous drip, dilute with 5% glucose injection or 5% glucose sodium chloride injection and then drip, 0.16-0.4 g per day, 1-2 times a day. For children, reduce dosage as appropriate or follow doctor's advice.

3. Adverse Reactions

1. Allergic reactions can manifest as rash, itching, maculopapular rash, severe or even dyspnea, edema, and anaphylactic shock, which often occur after the first use of the drug;

2. Gastrointestinal reactions include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and there have also been reports of liver damage;

3. Blood system reactions include leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, purpura, etc.

4. Pyrogenic reactions include chills, high fever, and even dizziness, chest tightness, palpitations, tachycardia, and decreased blood pressure.

4. Taboos

1. It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to this product.

2. It is forbidden for pregnant women to use.

3. For children, reduce the dosage or follow the doctor’s advice. The use of medication in the elderly is not yet clear.

5. Drug Interactions

1. This product should not be used in combination with acidic or alkaline drugs or drugs containing sodium bisulfite or sodium metabisulfite as antioxidants.

2. This product should not be used in combination with aminoglycosides and quinolones.
