Is blood lipid 27 high?

Is blood lipid 27 high?

The so-called blood lipids actually refer to the neutral fats in the human blood, which include many components. Everyone has blood lipids. Young people’s blood lipids are generally normal, but when people reach middle age or old age, their blood lipids are prone to abnormalities. The most common is hyperlipidemia. For these people, they need to go to the hospital regularly to check their blood lipids. So is a test result of 27 high?

Is blood lipid 27 high?

Blood lipids refer to the general term for triglycerides and lipids. Under normal circumstances, total serum cholesterol is between 2.8 and 5.17 mmol/L; serum triglycerides are between 0.56 and 1.7 mmol/L; high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, males are between 0.96 and 1.15 mmol/L; females: 0.90 to 1.55 mmol/L; low-density lipoprotein cholesterol is between 0 and 3.12i/l, all of which are within the normal range.

During the blood lipid test, the total cholesterol was 6.27. Does this mean it is hyperlipidemia? Should I take medicine in this situation?

Regarding this question, it is obvious that if the total cholesterol is 6.27, it is indeed considered high blood lipids, but as to whether medication is needed, we need to look at the specific details. Generally speaking, when total cholesterol exceeds 5.2, it is considered hyperlipidemia. When it is between 5.2-6.2, it is considered borderline elevated. If it exceeds 6.2, it is considered elevated cholesterol. Therefore, if the total cholesterol is 6.27, it can be diagnosed as mild to moderate elevated hyperlipidemia.

If blood lipids are elevated, it may bring the risk of cardiovascular disease, but we cannot judge whether we need to take medication based on this single value alone. We also need to consider the values of low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides. Factors that need to be considered include whether the patient suffers from other cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, obesity, smoking habits, and whether there is a family history of such diseases.

Blood lipid testing was performed. As a result, blood lipids increase significantly. Blood lipids mainly include total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. If the main symptoms are elevated total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, statins should be taken for lipid-lowering treatment, and the treatment should be intensive, with increased drug dosage, so that blood lipids can be reduced to normal levels in a short period of time. If the main symptom is increased triglycerides, fibrate lipid-lowering drugs such as bezafibrate should be taken. At the same time, the intake of high-fat and high-cholesterol foods should be strictly limited, and physical exercise should be strengthened.

If you have high blood lipids, you should drink more water, you can drink more tea, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, exercise appropriately, eat breakfast on time, and eat more foods rich in vitamins, which are beneficial to lowering blood lipids. You should pay attention to a low-salt and low-fat diet, you can take drugs to control blood lipids, and keep a happy mood.
