Treatment of ovarian cancer with Peng'eshu powder and Daotan decoction

Patients with ovarian cancer can take Peng'eshu San and Daotan Tang with modifications for treatment. Peng'eshu San has the effects of promoting qi and blood circulation, softening and eliminating hard masses; Daotan Tang has the effects of strengthening the spleen and eliminating dampness, resolving phlegm and softening hard masses.

Pengershu powder

Ingredients: Bupleurum, Angelica, Citrus aurantium, peach kernel, turtle shell, cinnamon bark, Trillium, costusroot, amber, raw rhubarb (added later), red peony root, areca catechu, and Curcuma zedoaria.

Add or subtract: 1. For patients with severe abdominal distension and pain, add Chuanlianzi, Yanhusuo, and Polygonum multiflorum. 2. For patients with blood deficiency and yin damage, add Panax notoginseng, Codonopsis pilosula, Polygonum multiflorum, Radix Rehmanniae, Radix Rehmanniae. 3. For patients with abdominal distension and a drum-like abdomen, add Dafupi, Chuanlianzi, and Plantago.

Usage: Take 1 dose daily, decocted in water.

Function: Promotes qi and blood circulation, softens and eliminates lumps.

Indications: Qi stagnation and blood stasis, symptoms include a hard and fixed mass in the lower abdomen, abdominal distension and pain or stabbing pain, which is worse at night, dull complexion, rough skin, emaciation, dark purple tongue with ecchymosis and petechiae, and a thin and wiry or stringy pulse.

Modified Daotan Decoction

Ingredients: Codonopsis pilosula, Poria cocos, Citrus aurantium, Trillium gracile, Curcuma zedoaria, Tangerine peel, Arisaema consanguineum, Raw Pinellia ternata, Atractylodes lancea, Cyperus rotundus, and ginger.

Add or subtract: 1. For patients with hard lower abdominal mass, add turtle shell, pangolin, frankincense, myrrh, mountain aconite, and selfheal. 2. For patients with fatigue and weakness, add white atractylodes and astragalus. 3. For patients with dry and hard stool, add raw rhubarb, hemp seed, and white peony root.

Usage: Take 1 dose daily, decocted in water.

Function: Strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, resolve phlegm and soften hard masses.

Indications: Phlegm-dampness accumulation, symptoms include lower abdominal distension, or palpable mass, thirst with little drinking, puffy face, fatigue, yellow urine and dry stools, dark or red tongue, greasy white tongue coating, and slippery pulse.
