The advantages and disadvantages of eating hawthorn regularly

Hawthorn is a very popular fruit. It tastes sour, but it can serve as an excellent appetizer. Therefore, using hawthorn to regulate your diet is a good choice. However, hawthorn fruit has always been lukewarm in the market and cannot be compared with other mainstream fruits. Let’s take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of eating hawthorn regularly. I hope everyone can understand it.

Benefits: Hawthorn has high medicinal value. According to pharmacological analysis, hawthorn contains triterpenoids, lipase, flavonoid compounds and piperidin, which can enhance the regulation of the myocardium, help promote cholesterol conversion and reduce fat. It is also a good fruit for dilating the bronchus, promoting tracheal cilia movement, resolving phlegm and relieving asthma.

In fact, hawthorn has many other benefits besides helping with digestion. Not long ago, relevant personnel from Tianjin Institute of Environmental Medicine tested the antioxidant activity of 30 common fruits in China and believed that hawthorn's anti-aging effect ranks first among all fruits.

Anti-cancer and anti-cancer studies in recent years have found that hawthorn contains a compound called vitexin, which has anti-cancer effects. Both nitrosamines and aflatoxin can induce the occurrence or aggravation of gastrointestinal cancer. Experimental studies have shown that hawthorn extract can not only block the synthesis of nitrosamines, but also inhibit the carcinogenic effect of aflatoxin. Therefore, people at high risk of gastrointestinal cancer should eat hawthorn regularly. For patients who already have cancer, if they experience indigestion, they can also cook porridge with hawthorn and rice. This can not only aid digestion, but also play an auxiliary anti-cancer role.

Disadvantages: Eating too much hawthorn can damage one's internal energy because hawthorn contains a large amount of vitamin C and fruit acid. From the perspective of food and medicinal properties, hawthorn tastes sour and sweet. “Hawthorn can break up qi, so it is not suitable to eat too much of it. Eating too much will consume qi and damage teeth.” Hawthorn can break up qi and remove stagnation, so it is not suitable for people with weak spleen and stomach or who are taking qi-replenishing medicines such as ginseng. Children are in the period of tooth replacement. If they eat a lot of food frequently, it will be detrimental to the growth of their teeth and affect their appetite. Therefore, it is not advisable to eat too much hawthorn.
