What to do if you have a persistent cough due to lung cancer

What should I do if I have a persistent cough due to lung cancer?

The chronic cough of lung cancer patients may be caused by lung infection, trachea, pleura, etc., and may require oral medication, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, etc.

1. Lung infection: Lung infection in lung cancer patients, due to inflammatory factors stimulating lung tissue to produce inflammatory exudate deposited in the lungs, and then reflexively causing coughing, the cough disappears after anti-infection treatment, commonly used drugs are amoxicillin, cephalosporin, azithromycin, etc. It can also be combined with compound licorice tablets, spray vitamin tablets, dextromethorphan and other cough.

2. Invasion of the trachea: If cancer cells invade the patient's trachea, it will cause irritation to the relevant parts, leading to tracheal spasm and contraction, and then induce coughing symptoms, usually accompanied by asthma. At this time, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are needed.

3. Invasion of the pleura: When cancer cells invade the chest, they can cause pleurisy and pleural effusion, which in turn affects the normal inhalation and exhalation of the lung tissue. The stimulation of inflammatory factors can cause coughing, usually accompanied by chest tightness and other symptoms. At this time, chest puncture is required for drainage, but radiotherapy and chemotherapy are also needed to kill cancer cells.

In addition to the common causes mentioned above, it may also be caused by atelectasis, which requires timely medical treatment and active treatment after the cause is identified.
