Is stage 2 thyroid cancer dangerous? Can it be cured?

Stage II thyroid cancer is generally more serious, but it can be cured through active treatment.

1. Severity

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the thyroid follicular epithelial cells, which may be related to iodine deficiency, genetics and other factors. According to the different pathological types, it can be divided into papillary adenocarcinoma, follicular adenocarcinoma, medullary carcinoma and anaplastic carcinoma. Among them, papillary adenocarcinoma has a better prognosis among thyroid cancers, while anaplastic carcinoma has the worst prognosis. Usually, if the patient is in the second stage of thyroid cancer, it means that the disease has developed to the middle stage. At this time, the patient's symptoms will be more obvious, and metastasis may also occur, so it is more serious.

2. Treatment Methods

1. Surgery: For patients without distant metastasis, surgical resection is the main treatment in clinical practice. Commonly used procedures include total thyroidectomy plus isthmus resection and subtotal thyroidectomy. At the same time, it is also necessary to cooperate with the radionuclide iodine-131 for treatment, which can effectively kill the remaining cancer cells and thus improve the quality of life.

2. Chemotherapy: For patients in the late stage who cannot tolerate surgery or whose disease relapses after surgery, systemic chemotherapy with drugs such as cisplatin injection and paclitaxel injection is needed under the guidance of a doctor to inhibit the spread of cancer cells and prolong the patient's life.

Patients are advised to seek medical treatment in time to avoid delaying the disease. In daily life, you should pay attention to a reasonable diet and eat foods rich in high-quality protein, such as eggs, milk, etc., which can supplement the nutrients needed by the body. In addition, you should pay attention to rest, avoid overwork, and ensure adequate sleep time, which is good for your health.
