How long can you live after surgery for advanced liver cancer?

Since the survival time of some patients with advanced or late-stage liver cancer after surgery ranges from two months to six months, in this case, conservative treatment methods are still chosen, which are relatively less traumatic and have a relatively satisfactory survival time. At present, interventional embolization therapy for advanced liver cancer is also the main treatment method, which can prolong the patient's progression-free survival time.

What are the targeted drugs for liver cancer currently?

As a prerequisite for targeted drug treatment of liver cancer, it is recommended to conduct genetic testing first, and screen targeted drugs for targeted treatment based on the results of genetic testing, but it is also necessary to combine chemotherapy, immunotherapy and some symptomatic supportive treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, which may have a better therapeutic effect on liver cancer. From 2007 to 2017, sorafenib was the only targeted drug for liver cancer in the world. Since 2017, the development of targeted drugs for liver cancer has been accelerating, and it was launched in 2018. Lenvatinib is a targeted drug for the treatment of liver cancer. International guidelines recommend targeted drugs for liver cancer, and the first-line drugs are sorafenib and lenvatinib.

Liver cancer is not sensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Whether liver cancer can be cured cannot be generalized. It is related to factors such as tumor stage, physical condition, and treatment methods. If it is early-stage liver cancer, the prognosis will be better through active drug treatment, surgical treatment and other effective measures, and the 5-year survival rate can reach 40-70%, while the prognosis of advanced patients will be worse. However, it may be more common in clinical practice for some patients with advanced liver cancer, such as such patients with advanced liver cancer, whose tumors are large or diffuse, that is, multiple liver metastases, and even ascites.
