Will nasopharyngeal carcinoma recur after treatment? How to prevent it?

If cancer recurs after treatment, the consequences are serious and patients need to avoid it as much as possible. So, will nasopharyngeal cancer recur after treatment? How to prevent it?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in my country. It is more common in southern provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Fujian, and Jiangxi. The incidence rate in men is 2 to 3 times that in women. The age distribution of reported cases in my country ranges from 3 to 90 years old, but 30 to 50 years old is the most common age group. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma can recur after treatment, so patients need to pay attention.

Recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma usually presents with the following symptoms: headache, facial numbness, difficulty opening the mouth, double vision: one, two, or all of these symptoms may occur, or they may appear one after another, from mild to severe, and develop continuously. Headaches are mostly migraines, which are progressively aggravated. Facial numbness is often on the same side as the headache, and the skin feels numb, tingling, or like crawling insects. The range of numbness may gradually expand or worsen, which may cause difficulty opening the mouth, deviation, and chewing weakness.

To prevent the recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma should have a correct understanding of their condition and the side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy after surgery, maintain an optimistic and cheerful mood, and establish confidence that they can overcome the disease. Postoperative care for nasopharyngeal carcinoma is also very important. Active postoperative care can effectively prevent the recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma after surgery.

Among them, it is necessary to "take psychological treatment as the premise, drug treatment as the core, diet treatment as the basis, and physical treatment as the supplement", be comprehensive, holistic and coordinated. After the routine treatment is completed and entering the recovery period, consolidation treatment of such therapy is indispensable, so that the body of nasopharyngeal cancer patients is always kept in the best condition, which can greatly reduce the chance of recurrence and metastasis of nasopharyngeal cancer.
