Edible insects in China

We will find on TV that many people often eat some unique insects abroad. Although these insects are not available in China, they still want to eat them. In fact, there are many edible insects in our country. Some of you may have eaten them, and some may not be foodies. However, insects do have high protein and nutritional value. As long as you dare to eat them, you can eat them. What are the edible insects in China?

The following insects are edible:

Locusts: Both adults and larvae can be eaten. All types of locusts, including grasshoppers, can be eaten. Use branches with leaves to hit them, or spread plastic film on the ground and drive the locusts onto the film. Because the film is smooth, the locusts cannot escape and are easy to catch. Locusts: Eating the adults

Mole crickets: The adult mole crickets are eaten, caught by hand or lured with lights at night.

Crickets: The adults are eaten, caught by hand or hit with branches.

Katydid: Also called katydid, the method of catching it is similar to that of cricket.

Silkworm and Tussah silkworm: The main edible pupae are domesticated insects, and it is difficult to find them in the wild.

Moths: including hawk moths, cutworms, noctuids, and borers. Because their larvae are covered with hair and have ugly appearance, most people choose to eat their pupae.

Butterflies: All kinds of butterfly pupae are edible. Compared with moth larvae, the larvae of most species do not have hair and can also be eaten.

Termites: Eat adult insects and eggs, and look for anthills to dig. There are two types of termites: those that live in trees and in the soil. Tree termites are pure white in color and have no odor when eaten. Ground termites are mostly brown in color and have a slightly strange taste when eaten.

Ants: Eat adults, larvae, pupae, and eggs. Dig them up from anthills or trap them with food. When eating ants, you should pay special attention to the fact that species of Formicidae are poisonous and cannot be eaten. Stink ants are small, have upturned tails, and have a peculiar smell, making them easy to distinguish from other ants.

Cicadas: Eat the adult insects, hit them with branches or stick them with glue. In some mountainous areas in the south, you can sometimes see large numbers of cicadas that died after drinking water gathered together on the riverbanks, and they can be collected.

Dragonflies: Both adults and larvae are edible. Adults can be hit with branches or glued, or caught with a net. The larvae are caught in the water using nets.

The adult bugs are edible and caught in the water with nets.

Stone silkworm: The larvae are edible. The larvae live in streams and use silk to stick several stones together to form a sacrifice place. You can use your bare hands to fish out the stone nests of the stone silkworms in the water and catch the larvae.

Longhorn beetle: Eats larvae that live in wood and feed on it. Choose dead branches with many insect holes and cut them open to look for larvae.

Praying mantis: adults and larvae are edible. Adults or larvae can be caught directly by hand. Praying mantis eggs can also be eaten.

Dytiscidae: Both adults and larvae are edible and can be caught using nets in ponds and rivers.

Bees: including wasps, hornets and bees, which eat adults, larvae and pupae. After finding the beehive, burn the adults to death with fire before collecting the larvae and pupae.
