Multiple cysts of the liver

Multiple cysts of the liver

People's living standards are getting better day by day, so the food they eat for three meals a day is getting better and better. Basically, every meal consists of fish and meat, and every meal is greasy. Although eating this way may make you feel comfortable physically and mentally at the time, it will actually cause many diseases. So there is a saying that goes “Misfortune comes from the mouth and trouble comes from the mouth”, which is absolutely true. For example, multiple cysts in the liver may be caused by long-term consumption of greasy food.

There are many causes of multiple cysts in the liver, one of which is eating a lot of greasy foods for a long time. Of course, in addition to the first time, the cause of multiple liver cysts may also be genetic factors or aging.

Multiple liver cysts are benign masses that are often associated with cysts in other organs, such as polycystic kidney disease. Cysts are generally congenital and can exist alone or in multiple forms. The cyst has clear boundaries and is difficult to detect in the fluid stored in the cyst. It may be discovered during an accidental physical examination. This phenomenon may be distributed in various lobes of the liver or limited to the small ducts in the hepatobiliary. The composition of the fluid in the cyst varies with the cyst type, size, and presence or absence of complications. The cystic fluid of polycystic liver is clear. If there is bleeding in the cyst, the cystic fluid will be brown or red. If there is infection, the cystic fluid may be purulent.

Patients usually develop clinical symptoms after the age of 40-50, which are related to the size of the cyst. They are mainly gastrointestinal symptoms such as indigestion, loss of appetite, belching, nausea, vomiting and right upper abdominal pain, but the degree is not severe. Chills and fever may occur after secondary infection. Rarely, huge cysts may compress the common bile duct or hepatic duct and cause jaundice. There may be no positive physical signs, and some patients may feel an abdominal mass.

People with multiple liver cysts usually have normal liver function tests. Ultrasound examination showed multiple dark areas of fluid in the liver area. CT and radionuclide scanning can help differentiate it from solid tumors and hemangiomas.

Excluding genetic factors, multiple liver cysts are likely to increase with age. Therefore, we must exercise regularly in our daily lives and persist in doing so, because occasional exercise is useless. At the same time, in addition to exercise, we should try to stay away from greasy food and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables to ensure our health.
