Lobsters and crabs are seafood that we often eat. Many people like to buy them alive because this can better ensure their freshness. However, sometimes you don’t need to eat them immediately after buying them home. In this case, you may need to keep them at home for a while. If there is no suitable fish tank, you need to put them together. So, can lobsters and crabs be kept together? Because crayfish will compete with river crabs for food, oxygen, and aquatic plants, and both have the habit of self-mutilation and mutual harm, traditional farming has always regarded crayfish as pests in crab ponds, and raising crayfish in crab ponds has certain risks. However, from the perspective of breeding practice, it is feasible to raise crayfish in crab ponds. The following problems need to be solved when raising crayfish in crab ponds: ⑴Grow good aquatic plants. Since both river crabs and crayfish will eat some aquatic plants, it is necessary to ensure the planting amount of aquatic plants in the crab pond. The aquatic plant coverage area should account for more than 50% of the entire pond area. This can minimize the impact between river crabs and crayfish. It is best to put crayfish into the crab pond after the aquatic plants have grown. ⑵ Provide sufficient feed and feed appropriately. Keeping river crabs and crayfish well fed is an important measure to prevent them from killing each other, so it is necessary to accurately grasp the number of river crabs and crayfish in the pond and provide enough feed. When feeding, sufficient fresh snails should be added. The amount of fresh snails added per mu should be more than 250 kg, generally 250-500 kg. When feeding feed, we must follow the principle of "fine at both ends and coarse in the middle". When feeding large amounts of feed, you must pay attention to regulating the water quality to avoid feeding large amounts of feed causing water quality deterioration and death of shrimps and crabs. ⑶ In the early stage of crayfish breeding, attention should be paid to improving water quality, applying some base fertilizer in appropriate amounts, and cultivating small zooplankton for crayfish to eat. Generally, 2,000 shrimp fry with a body length of 2-3 cm are released per acre in crab ponds for raising crayfish. The release amount should not be too large, otherwise the breeding will fail. During the breeding period, it is necessary to use ground traps to catch the big crayfish and leave the small ones, so as to reduce the density of crayfish in the pond in the later stage and ensure the growth of river crabs. |
