Which seven daily necessities should be washed but are not washed

You must be concerned about the hygiene of your kitchen countertops and the stubborn stains on your toilet. But these may not be the areas you need to prioritize cleaning and pay strong attention to. You should definitely keep your counters and toilet bowls clean to keep germs like salmonella away, but there are a lot of things you never wash that could be filthy as hell. Follow the popular health website to take stock of seven types of things that you never wash but are very dirty, and some tips on how to clean them.

1. Pillow

Ever wake up with a stuffy nose or a mild headache? A British study found that both new and old pillows contain at least one or two bacteria that cause asthma or other diseases, and some even have a dozen tiny reptiles. Dead skin cells, mites, mold, and bacteria are all common pillow inhabitants. The study also made a surprising discovery: synthetic fiber pillows have more harmful substances than traditional down pillows because synthetic fibers are not as dense as natural ones.

Cleaning method: Depending on the type of pillow, the cleaning method varies. If it's down-filled, you'll need to take it to the dry cleaner, says Dr. Elaine Larson of Columbia University: "That way you can get rid of the allergens you're worried about." But for synthetic fiber pillows, you can wash them in your home washing machine. Be sure to read the dry cleaning instructions on the label before washing.

2. Toothbrush holder

A National Sanitation Foundation study found that 27% of toothbrush holders were contaminated with disease-causing bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus. The study also discovered an unknown bacterium related to E. coli. In fact, after numerous tests, scientists at the National Sanitation Foundation concluded that the dirtiest spot in the bathroom is where you keep your toothbrush.

How to clean: The National Sanitation Foundation recommends cleaning your toothbrush holder in hot, soapy water twice a week.

3. Water tank of coffee machine (American coffee machine)

You usually clean the coffee pot and filter carefully. But when was the last time you cleaned the water tank according to your coffee maker's instructions? Yep, probably a while ago, and that's the problem. The National Sanitation Foundation found that 50% of coffee machine water tanks had mold and yeast.

Cleaning method: Open the instruction manual of your coffee machine and clean it according to the instructions. But the most recommended method is to put some white vinegar in the water tank, and cook it like coffee until half of the vinegar drips into the glass coffee pot, then stop the coffee making process, let it sit for an hour, and then rinse the entire coffee machine.

4. Keys (keyboard)

From your computer keyboard to the house keys in your pocket, their surfaces are home to a multitude of microorganisms. If you're like most people and never clean them, then you should be careful. A British study found that keyboards contain an average of four times more disease-causing bacteria than public toilet seats.

Cleaning method: Remember to wipe it carefully with disinfectant wipes frequently.

5. Mobile Phone

Your mobile phone is always with you, whether it is at your desk, bank counter or restaurant table. These warm places are becoming breeding grounds for the growth of bacteria and microorganisms. Research from Stanford University shows that not only is your phone a "microbe magnet," but the smooth glass surface of your phone is also a good tool for transporting microorganisms.

Cleaning method: Disinfectant wipes are your best helper. But remember to turn off your phone while wiping, and don't turn it on until the antibacterial ingredients are dry.

6. Shoelaces

They are very close to the ground, so as you walk, the laces pick up dust and street dirt. According to research from the University of Arizona, shoes and shoelaces are home to millions of microorganisms (compared to just a few thousand on a toilet seat).

How to clean: Soak your shoelaces in hot soapy water, scrub, and then rinse. If you want to wash them in the washing machine, there's one thing to be aware of: the laces can get tangled in the agitator, so you're better off putting them in a laundry bag.

7. Wallet

You carry it with you every day and place it in various public places, such as bank counters, restroom sinks, etc. According to a survey by Initial, a British bathroom facilities service company, wallets are dirtier than public toilets in the office, and the parts with the most bacteria are the back and handles.

Cleaning method: It has a lot to do with the material of your wallet. However, wallets made of most materials can be cleaned by wiping with disinfectant wipes or washing with soapy water. If your wallet is made of some kind of fabric, dry cleaning would be better.
