What are the symptoms of oral fungal infection

People nowadays do not have very good eating habits, especially they like to eat some irritating foods, which will cause some harm to people's oral cavity. Especially if they often eat at roadside stalls, poor hygiene can easily lead to oral fungal infections. However, many friends do not know much about the symptoms of oral fungal infection, so they are unaware even if they have oral fungal infection. Therefore, this article hopes that you can learn about the symptoms of oral fungal infection.

1. Oral thrush: As the name suggests, white velvet-like patches can be seen inside the mouth. It is painless, but a bit rough and not easy to wipe off. After wiping it hard, a little red wound will be exposed. It is common in infants and young children, and is mostly caused by not cleaning the mouth in time.

2. Chronic atrophic candidiasis (denture stomatitis): often occurs in patients who wear dentures for a long time and lack timely cleaning. Symptoms include atrophy and dryness of the oral mucosa, dark red mucosa, and slight tenderness.

3. Acute atrophic candidiasis: It occurs in adults, mostly due to long-term use of antibiotics, which causes the bacteria in the body to lose balance and lead to Candida infection. Symptoms include abnormal taste or loss of taste, dry mouth, and burning pain in the mucous membranes. It may be accompanied by pseudomembrane, tongue pain, erosion at the corners of the mouth, etc.

4. Chronic hypertrophic type: The lesions on the cheeks are often symmetrically located in the triangular area inside the corners of the mouth, showing nodular or granular hyperplasia, or tightly fixed white keratin plaques, similar to general mucosal leukoplakia. Lesions on the palate may develop from denture stomatitis, with the mucosa showing papillary hyperplasia; lesions on the dorsum of the tongue may show proliferation of filiform papillae, which are gray-black in color and are called hairy tongue.

Now that you know the symptoms of oral fungal infection, if you find that you have an oral fungal infection, the first thing you should do is to clean your teeth and mouth, use the correct brushing method when brushing your teeth, and be careful not to eat spicy and irritating foods when the symptoms of fungal infection have not disappeared, so as to avoid worsening of the symptoms of fungal infection.
