What is the treatment for bleeding teeth?

Dental bleeding is one of the most common oral diseases. Especially for people with sensitive teeth, eating ice will cause toothache and subsequent bleeding. Generally, bleeding teeth may be caused by brushing too hard, which damages the gums, or spontaneous bleeding when chewing food. Some people think that a little bit of blood is no big deal and will go away after a while. In fact, it may be gum inflammation. So, how do we treat bleeding teeth?

① For acute gingival bleeding, emergency hemostasis should be performed first, such as packing, compressing the bleeding area, suturing the gingival papilla, periodontal plugging, etc. If necessary, short-term systemic hemostatic drugs should be used, but the indications should be strictly controlled.

② In view of the fact that gingival bleeding is mostly caused by local factors, a) local irritants should be removed promptly, including supragingival scaling and subgingival scraping to remove plaque, tartar and other pathogenic factors; treat food impaction; remove poor restorations, fillings, and orthodontic appliances; and correct bad oral habits. b) Oral hygiene education, control of plaque, and cultivation of good oral hygiene habits, including correct brushing of teeth in the morning and evening, proper use of dental floss and toothpicks, regular periodontal examinations and periodontal supportive treatment; c) Quitting smoking, increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables, etc.

③ For gingival bleeding that is suspected to be related to overall health status, sufficient attention should be paid and relevant examinations should be performed in a timely manner, such as routine blood tests, coagulation phase, liver and kidney function, etc., and treatment measures should be taken for systemic diseases.

It should be noted that gum bleeding may be caused by certain systemic diseases, such as acute or chronic leukemia, hemophilia, cirrhosis, hypersplenism, etc., which may lead to low coagulation function and cause gum bleeding. Therefore, those who still have persistent gingival bleeding after removing local irritants and anti-inflammatory treatments should go to the hematology or internal medicine department for further examination as soon as possible to identify the cause and receive timely treatment to avoid misdiagnosis and incorrect treatment.

1. Nutritional supplement: There are many reasons for bleeding, so the cause must be found out in order to effectively prevent and treat it. If you are deficient in vitamin C, in addition to taking vitamin C tablets under the guidance of a doctor, you should also pay more attention to supplementing your diet with foods rich in vitamin C and eat more fruits and vegetables. If it is periodontitis, you must take anti-inflammatory drugs under the guidance of a doctor and go for follow-up visits as ordered by the doctor. You cannot stop taking the medicine at will. But the fact is that after adulthood, the gums no longer receive nutrition from the human system, so more problems arise. Nutritional supplements cannot actually solve bleeding problems. This should be a current misunderstanding. If you don’t believe it, you can also try supplementing VC first.

2. Teeth cleaning: Everyone is familiar with ultrasonic teeth cleaning, which is used to remove dental calculus. Because dental plaque is more likely to cause the accumulation of dental plaque, resulting in gingivitis, bleeding gums, and periodontal disease. Therefore, removing dental tartar is a medical procedure. Of course, during the treatment, the calculus on the tooth neck and adjacent surfaces is removed, and the teeth will also appear whiter. The disadvantages of teeth cleaning are that it is painful, causes a lot of bleeding, and the surface of the teeth becomes rough after cleaning, making tooth stains and tartar more likely to reappear faster. Finally, there is the possibility of contracting disease.

It turns out that a small bleeding tooth can be a reaction to so many diseases. We need to pay more attention to our teeth. Not only should we not abuse it, we should also treat it well. Choosing the right toothpaste and a soft and comfortable toothbrush is the first step. We must start with small things and slowly solve this small problem of bleeding teeth step by step.
