Acute attacks of bronchial asthma often have these three manifestations

Some people always experience chest tightness when suffering from bronchial diseases, and even feel suffocated or as if their chest is being pressed by a heavy stone. This feeling will be relieved every quarter of an hour. This is most likely an acute attack of bronchial asthma. For this disease, people must understand the symptoms and then seek treatment as soon as possible after discovering the disease.

(1) Dyspnea: The prodromal symptoms are often followed by chest tightness, chest tightness, or even a feeling of suffocation, as if the chest is being pressed by a heavy stone. After 10 to 15 minutes, dyspnea, characterized by difficulty in exhaling, occurs, accompanied by wheezing. The patient was forced to sit upright and could not lie flat, with his head bent forward, his shoulders hunched, his hands on his knees, and breathing hard. The attack can last from tens of minutes to several hours and resolve on its own or after treatment.

(2) Cough and sputum: Coughing is caused by bronchial mucosal allergy during the prodromal period. It is generally a dry cough without sputum and varies in severity. During the attack period, the cough is relieved and wheezing is the main symptom. Towards the end of the attack, bronchospasm and mucosal edema are relieved, a large amount of secretions are discharged, and the symptoms of coughing and sputum are aggravated, with more thin sputum or mucous sputum plugs being coughed up. If infection occurs, purulent sputum may be coughed up. In a few patients, cough may be the only symptom.

(3) Others: Severe and prolonged bronchial asthma attacks may cause chest pain. Some patients may also experience vomiting or even incontinence. When the attack is severe and persistent, there are headaches, dizziness, anxiety and morbid behavior, as well as mental and neurological symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness and coma. If there is infection, fever may occur. After the attack, there are often systemic symptoms such as fatigue and weakness.
