Parents' smoking significantly increases children's risk of certain cancers

What is the cause of lung cancer? In modern society, almost every father of a child likes to smoke, but they don’t know that smoking is the cause of their children’s lung cancer. Parents’ smoking significantly increases their children’s risk of developing certain cancers. Let the experts explain to us why smoking is the cause of lung cancer.

A recent German study found that parents who smoke may increase their children's risk of developing nasal cancer, lung cancer, bladder cancer or kidney cancer in the future.

The German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg announced that researchers analyzed data on lung cancer patients between 1958 and 2002 provided by relevant Swedish institutions, including 18,000 mothers and 42,000 fathers with lung cancer. There were nearly 174,000 cases of cancer among their offspring.

Studies have found that the cause of lung cancer is related to smoking. If the mother is a smoker, the risk of her children suffering from respiratory cancer and bladder cancer is 1.5 times that of ordinary children, and the risk of suffering from nasal cancer and lung cancer will increase by nearly 3 times and 1.7 times respectively. The children of male lung cancer patients will also have an increased risk of suffering from nasal cancer and other cancers, but the risk of suffering from bladder cancer and kidney cancer has not increased.

Researchers believe that the above differences in the impact of parents' smoking on their children's health may be due to the effects of certain nicotine degradation products. If a pregnant woman or a newborn mother smokes, the fetus or baby will absorb nicotine degradation products from the mother's body or breast milk, respectively, and excrete them through the kidneys and bladder. Experts point out that the kidneys and bladders of fetuses and babies are particularly sensitive and fragile during their growth and development stages, and nicotine degradation products in the mother's body and breast milk can have adverse chronic consequences on the kidneys and bladders of the former.

The above is an introduction to the causes of lung cancer, I hope it can help you. What the experts want to tell you is that in daily life, we must pay attention to our living habits and not let our bad habits lead to the occurrence of diseases. For the health of children, I hope that parents who like to smoke can quit smoking as soon as possible.
