Why do I shiver when I pee?

Many people have experienced shivering when urinating, but shivering in adults and children may be different. Generally speaking, this may be an instinctive physiological reflex related to the nervous system, so you don’t need to pay too much attention to this situation.

1. Instinct

This is a human physiological reflex, or it can be said to be an instinct, a human's inherent physiological muscle energy and conditioned reflex. This situation also happens more often when urinating when there is enough urine. The human bladder stores urine, and the muscles that control excretion are first in a relaxed state. Suddenly, they become tense and exert force, triggering a reaction in the nervous system, resulting in shivering.

2. Children often shiver

If you pay attention to children (especially little boys), you will find that they often shiver when they urinate as children. Even in the hot summer weather, children tend to shiver in a hurry to urinate (they forgot about it while playing, and suddenly remembered, so they quickly took out their bladder to urinate. Due to the sudden release of a large amount of urine, the pressure in the bladder feels released quickly, and they are also prone to shivering once or several times). In fact, similar situations may also occur in female children, but it is not easy to see.

3. Others

First of all, shivering is not a disease. Urinating takes away the heat in your body, so you feel cold, and your muscles shiver to generate heat, which is normal. It is a stress response caused by losing a lot of heat in a short period of time. If you have pain and urgency when urinating, it should be a problem with the prostate. It may be prostatitis. When the prostate is affected, the following symptoms will generally appear: frequent urination, urgency, pain, urethral burning, urinary delay and other symptoms. It is recommended to go to the hospital for examination and symptomatic treatment.
