Three ways to prevent whooping cough

Three ways to prevent whooping cough

Whooping cough is a very difficult and difficult to cure disease, so compared with spending money and time to treat whooping cough, it is more necessary to do a good job of preventing whooping cough. Newborns have poor body resistance and are particularly susceptible to whooping cough, so if someone in the family is sick or if you take your baby out, you must take corresponding whooping cough prevention measures.

A baby is the future of a family and the apple of every parent's eye. If the baby is sick, the whole family will be uneasy. Whooping cough is a common disease that is highly contagious, stubborn and has serious complications. Every parent must take effective measures to prevent it in advance. Below, the editor of Jinan Asthma Hospital will show you how to prevent your baby from whooping cough:

1. Manage the source of infection and cut off the transmission route

When a patient is found, the epidemic situation should be reported immediately and the patient should be isolated and treated immediately. This is the key to preventing the spread of the disease.

2. Protect vulnerable groups

(1) Active immunity: There are currently two types of pertussis vaccines used for vaccination: whole-cell vaccines and acellular vaccines. Whole-cell vaccines are used in my country's immunization program. The commonly used vaccine is a triple preparation of diphtheria toxoid, pertussis vaccine, and tetanus toxoid (DPT). Generally, the first vaccination starts 3 months after birth, once a month, for a total of 3 times. The injection volumes are 0.5ml, 1ml, and 1ml respectively. Give another booster injection the following year.

Mild to moderate fever may occur 1 to 2 days after injection of whole-cell pertussis vaccine. A very small number of people experience shock within 48 hours after injection, or encephalopathy within days or weeks after injection. People with a history of allergies, family history of mental or neurological diseases, or acute infections should not be vaccinated with this vaccine.

(2) Passive immunization: Weak infants who have not received preventive vaccinations can be injected with immunoglobulin containing antitoxin for prevention after being exposed to pertussis cases.

3. Drug prevention

For infants and young children who have no immunity but have a history of contact with whooping cough, drug prevention is recommended. They can take erythromycin or co-trimoxazole for 7 to 10 days.
