Why is half of the nail empty? I have this disease

Normal nails will not become hollow unless they suffer from certain diseases such as onychomycosis. Studies have found that there are many causes of onychomycosis, the most common of which are infection by people, infection in public places, damage to the nails, and bad living habits.

1. Infected by others

We can also know from the catchy slogans on TV commercials that onychomycosis is also contagious, especially among close family members. A large number of pathogenic fungi gather on the toe nails and nail beds. The nail scraps that fall off at any time and place contain a large number of pathogenic fungi. Scratching or minor trauma can become the source of dermatophyte disease.

It is a very common phenomenon for family members at home or in school dormitories to wear each other's slippers and use each other's foot basins. They think that they have a close relationship and nothing will happen, but this method can easily spread onychomycosis.

2. Infection in public places

Entering public baths, swimming pools, saunas, dance halls and other public places will cause pathogenic fungi to appear and infect us, causing infection.

3. Damage to nails

Summer is the season for beautiful women to wear sandals. Beautiful sandals matched with beautiful nails are simply a beautiful scenery. Therefore, frequent manicures and frequent application of toenail polish have become a must-do for female friends on time.

In fact, the nails have a layer of nail surface membrane, which is part of the skin, but it is invisible to the naked eye. However, if you touch it carefully with your hands, you will feel that healthy nails are particularly smooth, just like they are coated with a layer of oil. This layer of nail surface membrane has the function of breathing and protecting the nails. Frequent manicures and nail polish will make our nails unable to breathe.

Secondly, when doing manicures, the nail surface film is usually scraped off, which will damage the nail surface and skin. Once the nails are diseased, pathogenic fungi will take advantage of the opportunity to invade and cause annoying onychomycosis.

4. Bad living habits

Some people's hands and feet sweat easily. This situation will keep our hands and feet in a hot and humid environment for a long time, providing an environment for the rapid growth of superficial fungi. Then we don't wash our hands frequently. After returning home at night, we often take off our shoes and walk around barefoot on the floor. We don't take a shower before going to bed, don't wash our shoes and socks frequently, don't change bedding, and a series of bad living habits will cause bacteria to grow, making it easy to suffer from onychomycosis.
