What should I do if my ears are bleeding?

The ears are our most important organs. When people find that there is a problem with their ears, it may mean that there is some trouble. In fact, many people are prone to ear pus. This is not a simple disease. Most of them are caused by otitis media. In normal times, we must actively treat it, use medication in time, and do local care.

1. Actively treat upper respiratory tract diseases, such as chronic sinusitis and chronic tonsillitis.

2. Drug treatment: Simple type is mainly local medication: antibiotic aqueous solution or antibiotic and steroid hormone drug mixture can be used, such as 0.25% chloramphenicol solution, chloramphenicol cortisone solution, ofloxacin ear drops, etc.

3. Precautions for topical medication: ① Before using the medication, clean the pus in the external auditory canal and middle ear cavity. You can use 3% hydrogen peroxide or boric acid water to clean it, then wipe it clean with a cotton swab or use an aspirator to suck out the pus before dripping the medication. ② When the amount of pus is large, use water, and when the amount is small, use boric acid alcohol.

4. Ear drop method: The patient sits or lies down with the affected ear facing upward. Gently pull the auricle backward and upward, and drop 3 to 4 drops of the medicine into the external auditory canal. Then press the tragus with your fingers several times to make the medicine flow into the middle ear through the perforation of the eardrum. Change the position after a few minutes. Note that the ear drop medicine should be as close to body temperature as possible to avoid dizziness.

5. If the eardrum is perforated and affects hearing, eardrum repair or tympanoplasty can be performed about 2 months after the ear is dry.

6. For ulcer type otitis media, if the drainage is smooth, local medication is mainly used, but regular check-ups should be noted. For patients with poor drainage or suspected complications and cholesteatoma type otitis media, modified mastoidectomy or mastoidectomy should be performed as soon as possible to completely remove the lesion and prevent complications.
