Gingival tumor is not common in daily life. It refers to a reactive tumor-like growth growing on the gingival papilla on the gums. It belongs to the connective tissue hyperplasia of the periodontal membrane and gums. When such symptoms appear, it can be removed through traditional surgery. For mild cases, iodine tincture can also be used for external disinfection treatment. 1. Traditional treatment of gingival tumors mostly involves surgical excision The affected teeth will be extracted, but if a large number of teeth are affected, the integrity of the dentition will be destroyed, the patient's chewing function will be reduced, and even the facial appearance will be affected. Simple surgical excision has a high risk of recurrence. The recurrence of gingival tumors is mostly caused by incomplete excision of the dental papilla and periodontal membrane of the teeth adjacent to the lesion area. The iodine ions in iodine tincture can penetrate and kill the remaining gingival tumor tissues in these deep parts, thereby reducing the recurrence rate. 2. Iodine tincture is usually used for external disinfection It has a significant killing effect on fungi, bacteria, protozoa and spores. It has been widely used in various clinical departments to treat ophthalmic diseases, skin diseases, oral glandular cysts, etc. Its mechanism of action is to oxidize the active genes in the cytoplasm and combine with the amino groups of proteins to denature the cells. When iodine tincture acts directly on the tissue, trace amounts of alcohol evaporate immediately, iodine ions are deposited and penetrate into the matrix, cells are rapidly destroyed, necrotic tissue falls off, and luminal fibrils proliferate and repair. Due to the small number of cases and unclear mechanism, further research and verification are needed. 3. Postoperative prevention The loosening of adjacent teeth after surgery may be due to the stimulation and damage of periodontal ligament tissue by surgery and iodine tincture, which leads to periodontal ligament edema and loose teeth. This damage is reversible. The edema will disappear after 2 to 3 weeks and the strength of the teeth can be restored. The above is what the author introduced to you about the symptoms of gingival sarcoma and how to treat gingival sarcoma. I hope the patients can recover soon. |
