What are the symptoms of bladder inflammation

The vast majority of patients with cystitis are female. After all, women are more prone to bacterial infections. When this happens, they will feel some itching in their urethra, and even slight pain during urination. A small number of patients will also experience symptoms of low back pain, so you need to determine your treatment measures based on the different symptoms you experience.

Clinical manifestations

More common in women. Typical clinical manifestations include frequent urination, urgency, pain, discomfort during urination, lower abdominal pain, etc. Some patients quickly develop difficulty urinating. The urine is often turbid and has an odor, and about 30% may have hematuria. Generally there are no systemic infection symptoms. A few patients experience back pain and fever, but the body temperature usually does not exceed 38.0℃.

Based on the medical history of frequent urination, urgency and pain when urinating, routine urine examination can reveal red blood cells and pus cells, and urine bacterial culture can confirm the diagnosis by finding bacterial counts of more than 100,000 per milliliter of urine.

In addition to general systemic examination, the most important thing in diagnosing chronic cystitis is to find out the type of pathogenic bacteria and the results of drug sensitivity tests, and to find the causes of persistent or recurrent infection. Chronic nonspecific cystitis must be differentiated from other types of cystitis, such as tuberculous cystitis, interstitial cystitis, chemical cystitis, etc.

Cystitis is a secondary infection. Generally speaking, a normal bladder has great resistance to bacteria, and it is difficult for bacteria to enter the human bladder wall. Even if they enter the bladder wall, they can be excreted from the body through urine. However, when there is upper urinary tract infection, lower urinary tract obstruction and the bladder's own resistance to lesions is reduced, the normal bladder mucosal anti-infection barrier is easily destroyed, so the bladder is very likely to cause infection and cystitis.

Bladder inflammation can be divided into acute and chronic, and the two can transform into each other. Acute cystitis can become chronic if not thoroughly treated, and chronic cystitis can transform into acute attack when the body's resistance is reduced or local pathological factors are aggravated.

It is often a secondary disease of upper urinary tract infection or lower urinary tract lesions (prostatic hyperplasia, bladder stones, etc.). Due to long-term and repeated infections, the bladder wall becomes fibrotic, resulting in a reduction in capacity. Symptoms are similar to acute ones, but slightly milder. The principle of treatment is mainly to deal with the primary lesion, and the general treatment measures are the same as those for acute cases.
