What is the reason for buzzing sound in the ears?

Many friends will find a buzzing sound in their ears when they sleep, which affects their sleep quality. In fact, there are many reasons for the buzzing sound in the ears, such as disease, such as otitis media, external auditory canal obstruction, etc., and mental stress can also affect the occurrence of such a situation. Excessive psychological pressure can cause neurological disorders.

Causes of tinnitus

1. Pathological aspects

Tinnitus in some people is caused by ear diseases or diseases in other parts of the body. Under normal circumstances, the various noises inside the human body are not easily perceived by the human ear. This is because the sound waves of the external sound field mask the internal sound waves. At the same time, the eardrum, ear bones, and ligaments of the human ear have the function of dissipating internal sound waves to the external auditory canal. When there are ear diseases, such as obstruction of the external auditory canal and increased inner ear pressure, patients are prone to tinnitus. In addition, cardiopulmonary disease, high blood pressure, drug allergies and other reasons can increase internal noise beyond normal values and cause tinnitus.

2. Psychological aspects

Withdrawing attention from the external world and focusing it on proprioception can sometimes weaken the adaptability of hearing and lead to tinnitus. The concentration of attention can intensify the tinnitus phenomenon and the feeling of tinnitus.

3. Ear reflexes

Tinnitus in some people is due to oto-emission phenomenon. The ear is an organ that receives sound, but modern medicine has discovered that the ear can also emit sound waves.

Tinnitus examination and diagnosis

examine

Subjective tinnitus and objective tinnitus can be distinguished based on the examiner's feelings; tinnitus and cranial tinnitus can be distinguished based on the patient's complaints. Instruments can also be used to diagnose ear-related tinnitus and non-ear-related diseases. The diagnosis of patients with tinnitus requires, at a minimum, a comprehensive audiological evaluation as well as temporal bone CT and head MRI.

diagnosis

The diagnostic procedure for tinnitus should include: collecting medical history, ENT examination, audiological examination, such as high-frequency hearing loss and the degree of auditory communication disorder caused by hearing loss, psychological quality diagnosis: such as personality traits, psychological tolerance, depression, anxiety level, etc., and imaging examination. Tinnitus is a clinical symptom.

Characteristics of clinical symptoms of tinnitus

Tinnitus duration : Tinnitus sometimes occurs continuously and sometimes intermittently. When it is mild, it is not easy to attract people's attention, but when it is severe, it is disturbing. Certain physiological movements, such as chewing, breathing and swallowing, can produce sounds, but these should not be considered tinnitus.

Types of tinnitus : Tinnitus can be divided into pulsating tinnitus and non-pulsating tinnitus.

Pulsatile tinnitus is a whirring, ticking or tapping sound that is consistent with the heartbeat. It can often be heard by placing a stethoscope on the patient's temple or ear. Non-pulsatile tinnitus is more common and is a continuous and stable noise, such as the buzzing, crickets, bells or motorcycle sounds described by the patient.

Location of tinnitus : If tinnitus occurs only on one side, the lesions are mostly in the sound transmission organs. If there is bilateral tinnitus but no other symptoms, it should be considered as an early sign of certain diseases, such as early arteriosclerosis, early manifestations of presbycusis, etc. Transient tinnitus often indicates that the lesion is mild, and is intermittent or fluctuating tinnitus with varying intensity, accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.
