What's the matter with white blood cells in urine routine test

What does it mean when white blood cells are found in urine routine test? We should have a correct understanding of this, because if there is some urinary tract infection or other diseases, there will also be an increase in white blood cells in the urine, such as kidney deficiency and nephritis, or cysturethritis, renal tuberculosis, etc. These diseases may be the causes. If it is these diseases, then we need to understand the correct and effective treatment methods.

1. Urinalysis white blood cells are the white blood cells among the three types of cells in urine routine examination. Normal urine may contain a small amount of white blood cells. Generally, the number of white blood cells per high-power field (HP) of centrifuged urine is 1 to 2, which is still normal. If there are more than 5 white blood cells per high-power field, it is called microscopic pyuria. Microscopic pyuria indicates purulent inflammation of the urethra, such as pyelonephritis, cystitis or urethritis, renal tuberculosis, etc. In glomerulonephritis, the number of white blood cells in the urine may also increase slightly.

2. A normal adult's urine may contain a small number of white blood cells, but it is abnormal if the number exceeds a certain level. Reference range: Microscopic examination: Normal person mixed a drop of urine WBC 0-3/HPF Centrifuged urine WBC 0-5/HPF (WBC refers to white blood cells, HPF refers to high power field)

3. Its clinical significance: Increased leukocytosis in urine is seen in: urinary tract infection, chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis, prostatitis. When female leucorrhea is mixed with urine, more leukocytosis can also be found. In addition, due to allergic reactions caused by drugs, a large number of eosinophils (a type of white blood cells) will appear in the urine.

4. Find out whether there is edema on the body, whether the urination is normal, etc., before a diagnosis can be made. A plus sign for white blood cells in the urine is not serious, but it should not be ignored. Further diagnosis and treatment is recommended. The treatment plan for each disease is different and cannot be generalized. Wait until the diagnosis is confirmed before taking medication. If it is only a mild inflammation, some antibiotics can be used, such as levofloxacin.
