Treatment of wounds after leech bites

Treatment of wounds after leech bites

Leeches are leeches, and there are many types. Some grow in fresh water, and some live on land. The biggest characteristic of leeches is that they suck blood. The blood of humans, livestock and frogs is the main food source of leeches. Mountain leeches are more common in some humid mountainous areas. If you are accidentally bitten by a mountain leech, you must deal with it in time to avoid causing greater harm. So, how to treat the wound after being bitten by a leech?

If you are bitten by a leech, you can deal with it as follows:

1) Never pull the leech out forcibly, because the more you pull, the tighter the leech's suction cup will stick. Once the leech is pulled off, its suction cup will remain in the wound, easily causing infection and ulceration.

2) You can gently tap the area above the leech bite or use your hands to gently tap the area around the leech to make the leech loosen its suction cup and fall off. You can also use cooling oil, tobacco water (water soaked in cigarettes), salt (salt is extremely important in outdoor activities, it is best to carry a small bag with you no matter where you go), concentrated vinegar, alcohol (or white wine), chili powder, lime, etc. and sprinkle them on the insect body to relax its suction cup and fall off by itself.

3) When you are bitten, calmly take out the salt you carry with you and sprinkle it on the leech. After a while, you will find it starting to slowly wriggle, and you can gently move it away. If you want to retaliate, you can kick it.

4) Leeches will also fall off if you burn them with fire, but you must be extremely careful when using this method, otherwise you will burn yourself before the leeches fall off.

5) After the leech falls off, if the wound continues to bleed (basically), press the wound with a clean finger or gauze. The bleeding will stop after 1-2 minutes. Then apply gentian violet (also known as gentian violet liquid) or iodine tincture (this is also a treasure among outdoor products, with powerful functions, haha, I will introduce it in detail later) to the bleeding point. You can also bandage the affected area with gauze. Be careful not to let the wound get wet to avoid infection. If bleeding continues, sprinkle some Yunnan Baiyao or hemostatic powder on the wound.

6) After the leech falls off, if the wound does not bleed, you can squeeze out the dirty blood in the wound (if you can't do it, you can ask your boyfriend for help), rinse it with baking soda water or clean water, and then apply iodine, alcohol or red mercurochrome to disinfect it.

7) If a leech gets into your nasal cavity (you've won the jackpot), you can use honey drops to drip into your nose to remove it. If it does not fall off, take a basin of clean water, have the injured person hold his breath, put his nostrils into the water, and constantly stir the water in the basin, and the leech can be lured out. (No one has tried it)

8) If leeches penetrate into the anus, vagina, urethra, etc. (GG's little brother has rich blood vessels and leeches often visit. You can just apply salt and tobacco to burn it. It is best not to let girls help, as it may cause misunderstanding and your face will get very hot), carefully check the part where the leech is attached, then drip vinegar, honey, and anesthetics (such as 1% cacao, 2% lidocaine) onto the insect body. After the insect body retracts, use tweezers to remove it.

In short, you don't need to be too scared when you encounter leeches, just use the correct method. Let me emphasize again: don't scream as soon as you see a leech, or try to flick it with your fingers or pull it with your hands. This is very bad. This is because even if you flick or pull the leech off, that's just its body. Its head will still remain in the skin, which can easily cause infection.
