Sugarcane is a type of plant that many children like to chew. Sugarcane is rich in glucose, so eating sugarcane can replenish a lot of glucose for the human body, but any food should not be eaten once it has gone bad. Because once it goes bad, the nutrients in the food will deteriorate. If you eat bad food, it can sometimes lead to poisoning. So if people get poisoned by eating bad sugarcane, how should they detoxify? Sugarcane mildew is mostly caused by long-term storage, freezing during the winter and then thawing, which allows fungi to multiply in the sugarcane at a suitable temperature. Arthrosporum is the pathogen of moldy sugarcane poisoning. The heat-resistant water-soluble component 3-nitropropionic acid secreted by the fungus is the main neurotoxic substance that causes poisoning. The main target organs of the poison are the central nervous system and digestive system. Severe cases may cause pulmonary edema and hematuria. The central nervous system is diffusely damaged, the main pathological changes are cerebral edema, and the extrapyramidal system may be damaged, and the sequelae are often difficult to reverse. (I) Judgment The onset may be as short as 10 minutes or as long as 17 hours after eating, but usually occurs 2 to 8 hours after eating. In mild cases, patients may experience nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and blurred vision. In severe cases, the above symptoms may become increasingly severe, including drowsiness; paroxysmal convulsions, occurring every 1 to 2 minutes; dilated pupils, staring, head tilted back, rigid limbs, clenched jaws, several times a day; coma, paralysis, pulmonary edema, hematuria, tarry stools; and even respiratory failure and death. (II) First aid There is no specific antidote. In addition to clearing residual toxins in the gastrointestinal tract, only symptomatic treatment can be given. 1. The focus is on preventing cerebral edema, stopping convulsions and preventing central respiratory failure. 2. Pay attention to preventing and treating water and electrolyte imbalance and secondary infection. 3. Powerful diuretics (such as furosemide 20-40 mg intravenous drip) can be used to promote the excretion of poisons. 4. Antispasmodic is the focus of symptomatic treatment. Diazepam 10 mg can be injected intramuscularly or intravenously, or isobarbital (amital) can be slowly pushed intravenously, about 0.1 g each time. Observe while injecting, and stop when the spasm stops. However, care must be taken to prevent adverse effects on respiratory depression, especially for children and people over 60 years old. It should be used with caution. I believe everyone is aware of the first aid measures after sugarcane poisoning. If you encounter an emergency, you can use the above methods to deal with it. No matter what food it is, it has a shelf life. If you want to avoid accidents, it is best to try to eat it before the food deteriorates. To avoid food poisoning. |
