Banana Ripening Method

Banana is one of the most familiar fruits in our lives, but most of the fruits nowadays are ripened artificially. Due to various reasons of economic development, fruits are easier to sell after being ripened. Bananas contain nutrients needed by the human body and are also rich in vitamins. However, ripening bananas will definitely affect their own nutrients. However, in order to sell them as quickly as possible and make a profit, people still choose to ripen bananas. What are the methods to ripen bananas?

1. Rice ripening method. Use ordinary rice and bury the fruits you want to ripen in the rice. Generally, the fruits will be fully ripe after 5 days. You can reduce or increase the time depending on how ripe the fruit is.

2. Method for ripening bananas and apples. The raw materials are bananas or apples. Put the fruits you want to ripen together with the bananas or apples and tie them tightly with a bag. Generally, the fruits will be fully ripe after 3 days.

Ripening bananas in bags

Place bananas in bag. Boxes are also available. Everyone can use local materials.

Be careful to avoid using contaminated bags or bags with wax layers, as this will affect the release of ethylene gas from bananas.

Ethylene gas is a plant hormone that promotes fruit ripening.

Ripe fruits such as apples, kiwis, and citrus fruits are sealed in bags along with raw bananas.

Be careful to use the ripest fruit you can find, or cut the fruit to stimulate the release of more ethylene gas.

Make sure the ambient temperature is kept at around 20ºC. Higher temperatures can speed up ripening, but can also result in uneven ripening.

Avoid moisture to prevent mold.

If it is too dry, add a glass of water.

Always observe temperature, adaptability and ripening conditions. Check on the bananas once or twice a day until the bag is fully ripe.

Generally, the bananas can be ripened after 48 hours. If the bananas are very green, the ripening time will be longer.

Precautions

Keep the temperature and humidity as high or low as possible, which will affect the ripening effect.

Avoid contact with moldy items

Apple boxes/breathable paper bags can be used as ripening tools. If plastic bags are used, it will reduce ethylene.
