What to do if your fingers are swollen

What to do if your fingers are swollen

When we close the door, it is inevitable that we fail to pull our hands out in time due to haste, resulting in our fingers being pressed in the gap of the door, which is what we usually call the situation where our hands are covered. After the fingers are covered, they often experience redness, swelling, pain, and blood stasis inside the nails. Some people's fingers are squeezed more severely, with half of the nail turning black and the fingers becoming thicker than other fingers. If your fingers are severely swollen, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a check-up as soon as possible to see if there is any problem with the bones.

1. What to do if your fingers are swollen

If the patient can move back and forth, it is usually a soft tissue injury. Appropriate external application of Chinese bone marrow, anti-edema and analgesic tincture, etc. can be used. Oral medications include blood circulation and analgesic capsules, bone-breaking pills, etc. Generally, the symptoms will gradually improve after taking the medication. If necessary, go to the hospital to take an X-ray and then determine the appropriate diagnosis, treatment and medication. If the injury has just been caused, you can apply cold compresses continuously for 24-48 hours after the injury to reduce swelling and pain. After the acute phase (48 hours), hot compress can be given to promote the absorption of edema and blood stasis. Three days later, apply blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs and hot compress to the affected area (do not apply medicine if there is a wound). Oral anti-inflammatory drugs and blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs are also used for treatment. It is recommended to stand the affected finger upright to help relieve pain and apply cold compress on time. It is best to go to the hospital for an X-ray to rule out fractures.

2. How to reduce swelling of swollen fingers

1. Common finger swelling is tenosynovitis, which will generally recover on its own in about a month, so don't worry too much. Of course, if you feel a lot of pain or are worried, you can make a simple judgment first: the metacarpophalangeal joints of the little fingers of both hands are stiff, and there is a feeling of sticking when they are bent to most of the way; the inner side of the entire index finger of the left hand is swollen and painful, especially when it is bent, the inner side of the finger feels tight and painful, and the fingers feel swollen, which will be relieved after moving for a while. So this is tenosynovitis. Just wait for gradual recovery or take Chinese medicine to recover, don't worry too much. Swelling can also be reduced quickly through self-massage.

2. If it is edema, it is basically caused by malnutrition. You can do this by improving your nutrition, adopting a low-salt diet, and eating more green fruits and vegetables. Pay attention to rest. After resting at night, the edema can be reduced or absorbed and disappear. Try to lie down as much as possible.

3. Small exercises to treat swollen fingers

1. Make your fist: Before getting up every morning, make your fist in bed. The speed should not be too fast, but you should clench your fist tightly. Do it 50-100 times a day.

2. Spread your fingers: Do this movement before getting up, and alternate with clenching your fists, doing it 50-100 times a day. 3) Warm water bath for hands: After getting up, you can soak your hands in warm water for 20 minutes, and keep the water temperature at around 50℃. 4) Wrist flexion and extension exercises: Move your wrist joints after getting up. Generally, the number of times should not be too many, about 30 times is enough.
