What is bilateral pneumonia?

Many people may not be so clear about the disease of bilateral pneumonia. It is actually a very common lung disease. This lung disease has a very bad effect on one's respiratory tract after it occurs. After all, the lungs are a part that supports people's breathing, and it is also the part that is most prone to disease. If it is not cured in time after it occurs, it will make one's lung disease more serious.

Disease of the lung itself or pulmonary manifestations of systemic disease. The respiratory system consists of the respiratory tract (nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea and bronchi at all levels) and alveoli. The lungs are the main organs of the respiratory system, and lung diseases are respiratory system diseases. In order to complete metabolism, the human body needs to continuously absorb oxygen from the air and expel carbon dioxide (gas exchange). This gas exchange is called respiration. Gas exchange between the lungs and the external environment and pulmonary ventilation - the gas exchange between the alveoli and the blood is called external respiration (also called pulmonary respiration), and the gas exchange between the blood and tissue cells or tissue fluid after the gas is transported through the blood to the tissues is called internal respiration (also called tissue respiration). Therefore, the lungs are closely connected to the cardiovascular system. In addition to being responsible for respiratory functions, the lungs also have non-respiratory defense, immunity and endocrine metabolic functions. The causes of lung diseases are different and may be caused by infections caused by viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms, air pollution, smoking, inhalation of dust or harmful gases. The occurrence of some diseases is related to immune and genetic factors. The most common lung tumor is primary bronchial carcinoma. Some diseases have unknown causes. Common symptoms include cough, sputum, hemoptysis, dyspnea, chest pain, and infections or immune-related diseases may be accompanied by fever. The severity and nature of these symptoms vary depending on the disease and the severity of the disease.

The lungs are part of the respiratory system and their function is to exchange gases. Good lung function is the guarantee for maintaining life. From the perspective of thoracic surgery, the lung is the largest organ in the chest cavity, and it is also the organ with the most types and number of lesions in thoracic surgery.

The human lungs are divided into left and right parts, which occupy most of the volume of the left and right chest cavities respectively. From an anatomical perspective, the right lung can be divided into three lobes: upper, middle, and lower, while the left lung has only two lobes: upper and lower. Each lung lobe has independent bronchus and blood supply (artery and vein), and its structure and function are relatively independent. In terms of fibrous structure, the lungs are mainly composed of "sponge"-like tissue with a very large internal surface, which is the site of gas exchange.

Common lung diseases include: pneumothorax, bullae, emphysema, lung shadows (strictly speaking, not a single disease, but clinically often used as a general term for multiple lung space-occupying lesions) and lung cancer, cor pulmonale, respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, lung abscess, pneumonia, neonatal pneumonia, pediatric pneumonia, tracheitis, asthma, tuberculosis, pneumoconiosis, interstitial lung disease, respiratory system diseases, etc.
