If the fetus' legs are clamped tightly together during examination, or if other body parts block the legs, it will be difficult to tell the sex of the fetus. Generally speaking, if there are no obvious protruding organs, it is assumed to be a girl, but this is only a probabilistic event, so the case of a girl turning into a boy is quite common.
