First, can iodine tincture cure onychomycosis? Applying iodine tincture on onychomycosis can only improve the symptoms of onychomycosis, but cannot cure onychomycosis. The medical name for onychomycosis is onychomycosis. It is related to fungal infection. Because fungi infect the nails, the nails will turn yellow, thicken, peel irregularly, and become deformed. This disease is very stubborn. Because the nails are too thick, the drugs are not well absorbed. Therefore, during the treatment, you must cooperate with the drugs of scraping the nails. You need to go to the hospital for fungal smear testing for further diagnosis. Once confirmed, you need to pay attention to hygiene, cut off the source of infection, and the used items must be strictly disinfected. Systemic treatment with antifungal drugs is needed, such as oral itraconazole capsules, Sophora flavescens tablets, external use of compound Tuqinpi tincture, povidone-iodine ointment, etc. Only systemic treatment can better improve the symptoms of onychomycosis.

Second, onychomycosis is difficult to cure and prone to recurrence. Patients should be patient and compliant and actively treat periungual dermatophyte diseases. Slowly scrape the diseased nail thin with a blade, then put a small cotton ball on the nail, drop 30% glacial acetic acid on it and soak it until it hurts, then remove the cotton ball. Do this 1-2 times a day, and it will usually be cured in 3-4 months. 28% thioconazole solution can also be applied externally. Remove the diseased nail surgically or wrap it with 30%-40% urea ointment, remove it after it softens, and then strengthen the treatment with topical medication. For severe cases, use itraconazole, 0.2 grams each time, twice a day, for 1 week, stop for 3 weeks, use it for 2-3 courses for nail tinea, and 3-4 courses for toenail tinea. Ketoconazole and terbutaline may also be taken.

Then you can apply the medicine on it, 1 to 2 times a day. Commonly used topical medications are iodine tincture, ice vinegar solution or tinea cleaner, which are effective until the diseased nail is removed and the normal new nail grows out completely.
