How to cure UV allergy?

Ultraviolet rays are everywhere. For most people, the harm of ultraviolet rays is to the skin, but for people who are allergic to ultraviolet rays, it is more troublesome. Regarding the question of how to cure UV allergy, in addition to treatment, prevention is also very important.

1. Prevention

When it comes to ubiquitous UV rays, prevention is clearly more important than cure. Therefore, you should avoid sunlight as much as possible when going out. When going out, you should hold an umbrella, wear a hat with wider brim, and wear clothes with long sleeves. Be sure to apply thicker sunscreen in time to exposed skin.

2. Reasons

There are two main reasons why ultraviolet allergy damages human skin: one is the direct effect of strong light energy without the involvement of immune mechanisms, which often manifests as an acute onset with erythema, edema, and gradual desquamation; the other is that even under normal sunlight, certain substances in the skin of some people change, or epidermal cells are damaged by ultraviolet rays to produce and release various mediators, leading to an immune response. Such skin lesions are mostly manifested as erythema, small papules, and exudation, showing obvious dermatitis and eczematous lesions.

3. Oral administration of sulfonamide drugs

Some antibiotics, diuretics, etc. can also cause ultraviolet allergy, so consult a pharmacist or doctor before taking the medicine.

4. Dietary taboos

It is best to avoid eating foods such as mud snails, gray vegetables, Chinese cabbage, amaranth, mustard greens, radish leaves, and water spinach, as these foods contain UV-sensitive substances.

5. Medication

When ultraviolet allergy occurs, you can apply external ointment to relieve the redness, heat and pain, or apply various corticosteroid preparations externally. For chronic patients with long-term ultraviolet allergy, oral administration of niacinamide, small amounts of hydroxychloroquine, or Chinese medicine for clearing away heat and detoxification, supplemented with antihistamines and B vitamins, can often achieve good results.
