The difference between earbuds and in-ears

The difference between earbuds and in-ears

There are also differences between earbuds and in-ear types. For example, if you don’t want to hear any external sounds when listening to music, you can choose in-ear types, so that you can’t hear the outside world. In-ear headphones are more suitable for people with larger ears. In fact, headphones have a relatively large impact on the ears, so sometimes it is not recommended to use headphones to listen to music, as it will damage the eardrum and affect hearing.

In fact, there is no real saying that one is more harmful to the ears. It is not true to say that one is more harmful, because it is the volume that hurts the ears, not the earplugs themselves. If you have to say one or the other, it is actually in-ear earplugs. It is not because of the plugs, but the usage habits. The earplugs we use are generally open and have sound leakage, so we can hear the outside world to some extent when listening to songs, so that we have a comparison reference when adjusting the volume, so generally the sound is not turned up very high. In addition, due to the characteristics of earplugs, the sound will leak out from the contact point between the plug and the ear canal, so the sound pressure on the eardrum is not that great invisibly. In-ear earplugs have better sound insulation because they are inserted into the ear canal. When we listen to some of our favorite music, we will inadvertently turn up the volume to increase the stimulation. Because of the strong sound insulation, there is no comparison between us and the outside sound, and the sound will become louder and louder. In addition, the sound is transmitted directly to the diaphragm, and very little is missed. The louder the sound, the more pressure on the ear, so it is relatively easier to hurt.

In order to develop a good listening habit, I recommend a method: the 60-60 rule. The listening volume should not exceed 60% of the volume setting of the player, and the listening time should be kept within 60 minutes. This is basically a safe listening habit.

PS: Pay attention to the hygiene of earplugs. Disinfect the silicone sleeve regularly. Using alcohol and water is a good way.
